Abstract
A utility bucket has a second bottom attached by a hinge to the first bottom. Adjustable locking rods slide in tracks at one end to adjust the angle of the second bottom relative to the first bottom to maintain the bucket in a vertical orientation for any roof angle.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A self leveling roof utility bucket device for maintaining the bucket in a vertical orientation on sloped surfaces, the device comprising:
a bucket comprising a first flat bottom and an enclosing wall attached to the first flat bottom around the entire perimeter of the first flat bottom, the enclosing wall extending upwardly from the first flat bottom to form an interior space with an open top, and a second flat bottom hinged to the first flat bottom below the first flat bottom so that the second flat bottom pivots downwardly to contact an external sloping surface below the bucket upon which sloping surface the utility bucket rests, an underside of the second flat bottom further comprising a high friction surface thereon to prevent sliding of the bucket positioned on a sloping surface; an adjustable lockable bracket extending adjustably between the first flat bottom and the second flat bottom to support the bucket at a wide variety of angles relative to the second bottom so that the bucket is positionable on a wide variety of sloped surfaces with the bucket maintained in a secure vertical orientation.
2 . The device of claim 1 wherein the adjustable lockable bracket comprises a pair of adjusting rods each pivotable attached at a top end to an under side of the first bottom and slidably attached at a bottom end to a pair of tracks attached to an upper side of the second bottom, the pair of tracks each having a series of spaced track holes therethrough along the length of each track and the pair of adjusting rods each having at least one mating hole in a bottom of the adjusting rod in alignment with each of the track holes alternately to modify the angle between the first bottom and the second bottom, and a spring loaded adjusting pin attached to each of the adjusting rods, the adjusting pin retractably insertable through the hole in the bottom of the adjusting rod and alternately through each of the track holes to lock the adjusting rod into a desired position to lock in the angle between the first bottom and the second bottom to adjust for a sloping surface on which the second bottom rests to maintain the bucket in an upright vertical position.
3 . The device of claim 1 further comprising an angle bracket attached to an edge of the second bottom so that a temporary fastener is attachable between the angle bracket and a sloped surface upon which the second bottom is resting to further prevent the bucket from sliding on the sloped surface.
4 . The device of claim 1 further comprising a cover hinged to a top of the bucket to removably cover a top opening in the bucket.
5 . The device of claim 1 further comprising a handle for carrying the bucket.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
