Abstract

The invention pertains to novel insecticidal compounds derived from Bacillus thuringiensis strains. New proteins designated Cry2Ae, Cry2Af, and Cry2Ag, and variants thereof are provided, as well as DNA sequences encoding these proteins or their variants. Further provided are recombinant hosts expressing such proteins, particularly plant cells and plants.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 - 56 . (canceled)

57 . An insecticidal protein consisting of the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO. 2 from an amino acid position between amino acid position 1 and 50 to amino acid position 632.

58 . The protein of claim 57 , wherein said protein is fused to a transit peptide.

59 . The protein of claim 58 , wherein said transit peptide is the tpssuAt transit peptide.

60 . A method for controlling insects, comprising expressing an insecticidally-effective amount of the protein of claim 57 in cells of a plant.

61 . A method for controlling insects, comprising expressing an insecticidally-effective amount of the protein of claim 58 in cells of a plant.

         62 . The method of claim 60 , wherein a Cry1A, a Cry1F, a Cry1A-Cry1F hybrid protein, or a VIP3Aa protein or a toxic fragment thereof, is used in combination with said protein of claim 57 .

63 . The method of claim 61 , wherein a Cry1A, a Cry1F, a Cry1A-Cry1F hybrid protein, or a VIP3Aa protein or a toxic fragment thereof, is used in combination with said protein of claim 58.
