Data transmission and receiving apparatus for digital broadcast signals which include control information

Abstract

In a transmission apparatus, still picture outputting control information is multiplexed to a transmission signal and in a receiving apparatus, still picture is extracted from moving picture. Still picture data to be outputted can be processed and the charge can be set for each kind of processing. A broadcasting system and a receiver can output the still picture data of which the copyright is protected in accordance with use.

       2 . A receiving apparatus, comprising: 
 a receiving unit for receiving and demodulating signals modulated by coding and multiplexing digital data including at least video data and audio data;    a multiplexed signal separating unit for separating a desired signal from signals received and demodulated in said receiving unit;    a decoding unit for decoding video and audio signals separated by said multiplexed signal separating unit; and    a still picture output controller for extracting still picture data from said video signals decoded in said decoding unit and subjecting said still picture data extracted to at least one of holding, conversion, or limitation of output of said still picture data,    wherein said still picture output controller comprises an external apparatus judgment unit for acquiring apparatus information of an external output apparatus to which said still picture data is to be outputted and for determining whether or not said still picture data can be outputted.    
   
   
       3 . The receiving apparatus according to  claim 2  further comprising an external apparatus interface unit, wherein said external apparatus judgment unit acquires said apparatus information of said external output apparatus via said external apparatus interface unit.  
   
   
       4 . The receiving apparatus according to  claim 2 , wherein said apparatus information of said external output apparatus comprises performance information including at least one of resolution, a number of colors to be outputted and memory capacity or authentication information.  
   
   
       5 . The receiving apparatus according to  claim 2 , wherein said receiving unit receives still picture output control information including performance information or authentication information of an external apparatus to which a data can be outputted, 
 wherein said external apparatus judgment unit determines whether or not said still picture data can be outputted by comparing said performance information or said authentication information included in said apparatus information of said external output apparatus with said performance information or said authentication information included in said still picture output control information, respectively.
