Abstract

A drinking straw that can be used to dispense a substance such as vitamins, pharmaceuticals, or diet supplements that is stored inside of the straw body. The straw includes a one-way liquid flow valve at one end of straw that prevents drawn liquid and any of the dissolved materials from returning to the initial liquid source that is drawn through the straw when the straw is not in use. The straw may include a one-way valve or crimp for acting as a one-way valve.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A dispensing drinking straw for dispensing substances affixed to the interior of a drinking straw comprising:
a drinking straw having a tubular shape with an inside passage; at least one substance stored in the inside passage of said drinking straw that can be dissolved with a liquid passing through the drinking straw; and a one-way liquid flow valve mounted near the bottom end of said straw, said one-way liquid control valve allowing the flow of liquid upwardly through the straw under drawing pressure from a user and said one-way valve being closed when the straw is not in use or a liquid being drawn through the straw thereby preventing any residual liquid remaining in the straw during the drawing operation from returning or exiting out the base of the straw.

         2 . A dispensing straw as in claim 1 , wherein:
said one-way valve includes a base having an aperture and a thin disc-shaped cover acting as a flap connected to said base that can be raised when fluid flows upwardly through the straw and be closed when there is no fluid being drawn through the straw.

         3 . A dispensing straw as in claim 1 , including:
a screen, said screen being mounted in the inside passage of said straw body near the top opening of the straw body to prevent the passage of any hard substances out of said drinking straw.

4 . A dispensing straw for containing a substance that can be dissolved in a liquid drawn through the dispensing drinking straw comprising:
a straw body that includes a long, thin hollow cylinder, said straw body being crimped near the first top end and said straw body being crimped near the second bottom end; and a substance deposited in the chamber formed between the first crimp and the second crimp in the straw body, said lower straw body crimp having memory so that the force of liquid through the straw will open the crimp to permit liquid to flow therethrough and when the drawing force of liquid is removed, the crimp will return to its original closed position.

         5 . A drinking straw as in claim 4 , including:
said crimping be made in one of the plurality of shapes in cross sectional area of the straw either a rectangle, triangle, hexagon or star-shaped.

         6 . A drinking straw as in claim 4 , including:
said straw body having a plurality of corrugated areas that allow the straw body to be bent at least 90 degrees for storage purposes.
