Abstract

A packet transferring/transmitting method is provided for use in a mobile communication system 50 . In this packet transferring/transmitting method, an upper node 1 determines the implementation of handover (determination step), and a handover addressing node 2 transfers, of a plurality of packets, a non-transmitted residual packet to a handover addressed node 3 , and the upper node 1 transmits a new packet to the handover addressed node 3 (transfer/transmission step). This enables maintaining the number of users to be accommodated while securing a wide bandwidth, sharing a line with high efficiency at soft handover, avoiding data residual in the case of the employment of variable communication rate, and preventing an increase in retransmission.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A mobile communication system in which residual packet data which have not been received by a mobile station are forwarded from a first base station to a second base station in accordance with a handover procedure with respect to the mobile station; the system comprising:
a controller which performs the forwarding of the residual packet data without performing an encapsulating for attaching a header for retransmission control to the residual packet data; and a receiver configured to receive packet data transmitted from the second base station.

2 . The mobile communication system of claim 1 , wherein the header includes a sequence number.

3 . A forwarding method in a mobile communication system in which residual packet data which have not been received by a mobile station are forwarded from a first base station to a second base station in accordance with a handover procedure with respect to the mobile station; the method comprising:
performing the forwarding of the residual packet data without performing an encapsulating for attaching a header for retransmission control to the residual packet data; and receiving packet data transmitted from the second base station.

4 . The forwarding method of claim 3 , wherein the header includes a sequence number.

a controller which performs the forwarding of the residual packet data without performing an encapsulating for attaching a header for retransmission control to the residual packet data.

6 . The base station of claim 5 , wherein the header includes a sequence number.

7 . A mobile communication system in which residual packet data which have not been received by a mobile station are forward from a first base station to a second base station in accordance with a handover procedure with respect to the mobile station; the system comprising:
a forwarding controller which performs the forwarding of the residual packet data after completion of a resource securement for a communication between the second base station and the mobile station; and a receiver configured to receive packet data transmitted from the second base station.

8 . A forwarding method in a mobile communication system in which residual packet data which have not been received by a mobile station are forwarded from a first base station to a second base station in accordance with a handover procedure with respect to the mobile station; the method comprising:
performing the forwarding of the residual packet data after completion of a resource securement for a communication between the second base station and the mobile station; and receiving packet data transmitted from the second base station.
