Responsible gaming devices

Abstract

Various gaming devices and gaming systems promoting responsible gaming are disclosed. According to one embodiment, a gaming device includes a display for presenting one or more games, a gaming module that controls the presentation of one or more games, and a responsible gaming module that periodically presents a responsible gaming message to a player to end a gaming session in response to a trigger event.

1 . A gaming device, comprising: 
 a display for presenting one or more games;    a central processing unit that controls the presentation of one or more games; and    a responsible gaming module in communication with the display, wherein the responsible gaming module periodically presents a responsible gaming message to a player to end a gaming session in response to a trigger event.    
   
   
       2 . The gaming device of  claim 1 , wherein the trigger event is a predefined period of time, cumulative win amount, cumulative loss amount, or a combination thereof.  
   
   
       3 . The gaming device of  claim 1 , further comprising a messaging system to contact casino personnel, personal contacts of the player, or a combination thereof in response to the responsible gaming message sent to the player to end the gaming session.  
   
   
       4 . The gaming device of  claim 1 , further comprising a player tracking system in communication with the responsible gaming module, wherein the responsible gaming message is tailored to the player's profile stored on the player tracking system.  
   
   
       5 . The gaming device of  claim 1 , wherein the responsible gaming module includes a timer.  
   
   
       6 . The gaming device of  claim 1 , wherein the responsible gaming module is remote from the central processing unit.  
   
   
       7 . A gaming system, comprising: 
 a plurality of gaming devices in communication with a network server, wherein each gaming device presents one or more games;    a game monitoring unit in communication with a game display, wherein the game monitoring unit controls the presentation of one or more games; and    a responsible gaming module in communication with the plurality of gaming devices, wherein the responsible gaming module periodically presents a responsible gaming message on a gaming device to end a gaming session in response to a trigger event.    
   
   
       8 . The gaming system of  claim 7 , wherein the trigger event is a predefined period of time, cumulative win amount, cumulative loss amount, or any combination thereof.  
   
   
       9 . The gaming system of  claim 7 , wherein the responsible gaming module includes a timer.  
   
   
       10 . The gaming system of  claim 7 , further comprising a messaging system in communication with the responsible gaming module, wherein the messaging system transmits a responsible gaming message to casino personnel, personal contacts of the player, or a combination thereof in response to the responsible gaming message sent to the player to end the gaming session.  
   
   
       11 . The gaming system of  claim 7 , further comprising a player tracking system in communication with responsible gaming module, wherein the responsible gaming message to the player is tailored to the player's profile stored on the player tracking system.  
   
   
       12 . A gaming device, comprising: 
 a main display for presenting one or more games;    a central processing unit that controls the presentation of one or more games; and    a responsible gaming module in communication with the display, wherein the responsible gaming module funds a charitable pool with a portion of a wager and a display for presenting a running total of a player's contribution to the charitable pool.    
   
   
       13 . The gaming device of  claim 12 , wherein the responsible gaming module further comprises a printer system for generating a tax receipt indicating a player's contribution to the charitable pool.  
   
   
       14 . The gaming device of  claim 12 , further comprising a display sign in communication with the gaming machine, wherein the display sign presents total charitable contributions from all gaming devices.  
   
   
       15 . The gaming device of  claim 12 , further comprising a bonus game, wherein a gaming establishment contributes a charitable donation in response to a winning event on the bonus game.
