Abstract

A method of programming a medical infusion pump with a protocol is disclosed. The method includes providing a protocol including one or more patient specific pump parameters. The method further includes providing a user interface configured to allow user adjustment of at least one of the one or more patient specific pump parameters. The method also includes uploading the protocol into the medical infusion pump.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A method of programming a medical infusion pump with a protocol, the method comprising:
providing a protocol including one or more patient specific pump parameters; providing a user interface configured to allow user adjustment of at least one of the one or more patient specific pump parameters; uploading the protocol into the medical infusion pump.

2 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising providing one or more non patient specific pump parameters.

3 . The method of claim 2 , wherein the user interface does not display the one or more non patient specific pump parameters.

4 . The method of claim 1 , wherein providing the user interface includes displaying an adjustable slider bar for the at least one patient specific pump parameter.

5 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising formatting the protocol to correspond to the format understood by the medical infusion pump.

6 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising displaying the user interface on a computing system associated with the medical infusion pump.

7 . The method of claim 1 , further comprising displaying the user interface on a display of a medical infusion pump.

8 . The method of claim 7 , wherein displaying the user interface includes displaying one or more non-adjustable patient specific pump parameters.

9 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the one or more patient specific pump parameters is selected from the group consisting of:
drug delivery rate; drug capacity; demand dose; demand dose lockout; bolus level; bolus occurrence; delivery period.

10 . An apparatus for programming a medical infusion pump with a protocol, the apparatus comprising:
a memory configured to store a protocol including one or more patient specific pump parameters; a monitor; a programmable circuit in electrical communication with the memory and the monitor, the programmable circuit programmed to generate a graphical user interface configured to allow user adjustment of at least one of the one or more patient specific pump parameters, the programmable circuit further configured to upload the protocol into the medical infusion pump.

11 . The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the protocol further includes one or more non patient specific pump parameters.

12 . The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the user interface does not display the one or more non patient specific pump parameters.

13 . The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the user interface includes a slider bar.

14 . The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the user interface displays one or more non-adjustable patient specific pump parameters.

15 . The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the monitor is associated with a computing system associated with a medical infusion pump.

16 . The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the monitor is a display of a medical infusion pump.

17 . The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the programmable circuit is further configured to format the protocol to correspond to the format understood by the medical infusion pump.

18 . The apparatus of claim 10 , wherein the one or more patient specific pump parameters is selected from the group consisting of:
drug delivery rate; drug capacity; demand dose; demand dose lockout; bolus level; bolus occurrence; delivery period.

19 . An apparatus for programming a medical infusion pump with a protocol, the apparatus comprising:
a memory configured to store a protocol including a plurality of patient specific pump parameters; a monitor; a programmable circuit in electrical communication with the memory and the monitor, the programmable circuit programmed to generate and display a graphical user interface configured to allow user adjustment of the plurality of patient specific pump parameters, the programmable circuit further configured to format the protocol to correspond to the format understood by the medical infusion pump and to upload the protocol into the medical infusion pump.

20 . The apparatus of claim 19 , wherein the protocol further includes one or more non patient specific pump parameters.
