Abstract

A stent includes a conduit defining a lumen; a first malecot adjacent the conduit, where the first malecot includes at least two members having at least one slit therebetween and where the at least one slit is in fluid communication with the lumen; and a second malecot including an annular structure surrounding and protruding from the conduit. A method for placing a stent includes inserting into a patient a stent and a stylet disposed within the stent, where the stylet includes an expandable member, expanding the expandable member, seating the stent, and removing the expandable member.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A stent comprising:
a first member including a proximal end portion, and a distal end portion and defining a first lumen, the first member including a first retention portion at the distal end portion and a second retention portion at the proximal end portion, the second retention portion extending distally from the first member; and a second member connected to the first member, the second member defining a second lumen, the second member including a retention portion.

2 . The stent of claim 1 , wherein one of the first retention portion of the first member and the retention portion of the second member includes at least two portions having at least one slit therebetween.

3 . The stent of claim 1 , wherein the first retention portion of the first member has a diameter larger than a diameter of the second retention portion of the first member.

4 . The stent of claim 1 , wherein the first retention portion of the first member includes at least two portions having at least one slit therebetween, the at least two portions being capable of folding such that the size of the at least one slit is larger when the at least two portions are in a first position than when the at least two portions are in a second position.

5 . The stent of claim 1 , wherein the second member is connected to the first member by at least one connector suture.

6 . The stent of claim 1 , further comprising a reinforcing member disposed within a wall of the first member.

7 . The stent of claim 1 , further comprising a spring disposed within a wall of the first member.

8 . The stent of claim 6 , further comprising a plurality of rings disposed within a wall of the first member.

9 . The stent of claim 1 , wherein at least a portion of the second retention portion of the first member is disposed distally of an end portion of the reinforcing member.

       10 . A stent comprising:
a member including a proximal end portion and a distal end portion and defining a lumen, the member including a first retention portion at the distal end portion, a reinforcing member, and a second retention portion at the proximal end portion, the second retention portion extending from the member in a distal direction such that at least a portion of the second retention portion is disposed distally of an end portion of the reinforcing member.

11 . The stent of claim 10 , wherein the first retention portion has a diameter larger than a diameter of the second retention portion.

12 . The stent of claim 10 , wherein the first retention portion includes at least two portions having at least one slit therebetween, the at least two portions being capable of folding such that the size of the at least one slit is larger when the at least two portions are in a first position than when the at least two portions are in a second position.

13 . The stent of claim 10 , wherein the reinforcing member is disposed within a wall of the member.

14 . The stent of claim 10 , the member being a first member, the stent further comprising a second member attached to the first member, the second member defining a lumen and including a retention portion.

15 . The stent of claim 10 , the member being a first member, the stent further comprising a second member attached to the first member by at least one connector suture, the second member defining a lumen and including a retention portion.

16 . The stent of claim 10 , wherein the reinforcing member includes a spring.

17 . The stent of claim 10 , wherein the reinforcing member includes a plurality of rings.

18 . The stent of claim 10 , wherein the lumen extends the length of the member.

19 . The stent of claim 10 , wherein the lumen terminates at a Coude tip at the distal end portion of the member.

       20 . A stent comprising:
a first conduit defining a first lumen, a proximal end, and a distal end, the first conduit comprising a first retention portion at the distal end, the first conduit further comprising a spring disposed within the first conduit and a second retention portion at the proximal end comprising an enclosed annular structure surrounding and protruding from the first conduit, the enclosed annular structure being angled over the spring and disposed at an angle relative to the first conduit and pointed in a distal direction; and a second conduit connected to the first conduit, the second conduit defining a second lumen, the second conduit comprising a third retention portion.
