Abstract
The present invention discloses a reinforced wood panel comprising a first lignocellulosic layer, and a prepreg layer.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A reinforced wood panel comprising: a first lignocellulosic layer, and a prepreg layer.
. The reinforced wood panel according to claim 1 wherein the first lignocellulosic layer is in the form of a wood composite material.
. The reinforced wood panel according to claim 1 wherein the first lignocellulosic layer is in the form of a wood composite material selected from the group including plywood, fiberboard, and OSB.
. The reinforced wood panel according to claim 1 wherein the first lignocellulosic layer is in the form of OSB.
. The reinforced wood panel according to claim 1 having a MOE of about 1.3 to about 2.5 mmpsi.
. The reinforced wood panel according to claim 1 wherein the prepreg layer has a thickness of between 0.010 inch to 0.250 inch
. The reinforced wood panel according to claim 1 wherein the prepreg layer has an MOE value of 1.7 to 50 mmpsi.
. The reinforced wood panel according to claim 1 , wherein the first lignocellulosic layer has a thickness of about ¼″ to about 2.5″, preferably in the range of ⅜″ to 1.75″, more preferably in the range of 0.7″ to 1.5″.
. The reinforced wood panel according to claim 1 , wherein the first lignocellulosic layer has an MOE value of about 0.5 to 1.2 mmpsi, preferably about 0.8 to about 1.15 mmpsi.
. The reinforced wood panel according to claim 1 , wherein the prepreg comprises reinforcing fibers and resin, the fibers being selected from the group comprising glass fibers, carbon fibers, armaric fibers, wood fibers, and bamboo fibers.
. The reinforced wood panel according to claim 1 , wherein the prepreg layer has a sufficiently high MOE value so that when incorporated into the reinforced wood panel, the reinforced wood panel has an MOE of about 1.3 to about 2.5 mmpsi.
. A reinforced wood panel comprising: a first lignocellulosic layer, a first prepreg layer, and a second prepreg layer, wherein the first lignocellulosic layer forms a core layer disposed between an upper surface layer formed by the first prepreg layer and a lower surface layer formed by the second prepreg layer.
. The reinforced wood panel according to claim 12 having a MOE of about 1.3 to about 2.5 mmpsi.
. The reinforced wood panel according to claim 12 wherein the lignocellulosic layer is in the form of a wood composite material selected from the group including plywood, fiberboard, and OSB.
. The reinforced wood panel according to claim 12 wherein the lignocellulosic layer is in the form of OSB.
. The reinforced wood panel according to claim 12 wherein the first prepreg layer has a thickness of between 0.010 inch to 0.250 inch
. The reinforced wood panel according to claim 12 wherein the first prepreg layer has an MOE value of 1.7 to 50 mmpsi.
. The reinforced wood panel according to claim 12 , wherein the lignocellulosic layer has a thickness of about ¼″ to about 2.5″, preferably in the range of ⅜″ to 1.75″, more preferably in the range of 0.7″ to 1.5″.
. The reinforced wood panel according to claim 12 , wherein the lignocellulosic layer has an MOE value of about 0.5 mmpsi to 1.2 mmpsi, preferably about 0.8 mmpsi to about 1.15 mmpsi.
. An I joist comprising a first flange interconnected by a webstock to a second flange; wherein the first flange is cut from a reinforced wood panel comprising a first lignocellulosic layer, and a prepreg layer.
. The I joist according to claim 20 wherein the first lignocellulosic layer is in the form of a wood composite material selected from the group including plywood, fiberboard, and OSB.
. The I joist according to claim 20 wherein the first lignocellulosic layer is in the form of OSB.
. The I joist according to claim 20 wherein the first flange has a MOE of about 1.3 to about 2.5 mmpsi.
. A process for manufacturing a reinforced wood panel comprising laminating a first lignocellulosic layer, and a prepreg layer at a temperature of about 260° F. to about 350° F., and a pressure of less than 800 psi.Cited by (0)
