Abstract

A putter-type golf club comprising an alignment system and a club head assembly. The putter-type club head has a body that is preferably composed of aluminium, with a rear weight disc and small inserts composed of a material denser than the material used for the remainder of the club head (excluding inserts in the “wings” on the club head and/or the neck of the club). The body has an alignment channel that is approximately the same width as a standard golf ball, and which runs from the face to the rear of the club head. In a preferred embodiment this alignment channel is black or dark in colour with a white or light-coloured border. The putter-type club has a neck that is inserted laterally through the side of the club head, such that it runs parallel to the face of the club head and for substantially the length of the face.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
. A putter-type golf club characterised by a deep alignment channel on the club head which creates a visual impression to the golfer when he makes a stroke of the golf ball being ‘scooped’ into the back of a illusory channel and a means of inserting laterally the neck of the putter-type golf club into the head of the club.

. A putter-type golf club according to claim 1 in which the deep alignment channel is approximately the same width as a standard golf ball and the length of the channel runs from the face of the club head extending to the rear of the club head.

. A putter-type golf club according to claims 1 and 2 in which the deep alignment channel is black or dark in colour, with a white or light-coloured border on its perimeter save where the channel abuts the face of the club head.

. A putter-type golf club according to claim 1 in which the neck of the club is inserted laterally through the side of the club head.

. A putter-type golf club according to claim 4 in which the neck runs parallel to the face of the club head.

. A putter-type golf club according to claim 5 in which the neck extends for substantially the length of the face of the club head.

. A putter-type golf club according to claim 1 in which the face of the club head is lowered in vertical height for a distance on either side of the alignment channel to create stepped “wings” or “arms” at the lateral ends of the face of the club head.

. A putter-type golf club according to claim 1 in which a rear weight disc is inserted into the club head to produce a near 50/50 front/rear weight distribution.

. A putter-type golf club according to claim 7 in which small inserts are added to the “wings” at the lateral ends of the face of the club head, such inserts to be composed of a material denser than the main material used for the remainder of the club head (excluding the rear weight disc or neck).

. A putter-type golf club according to claim 8 in which the rear weight disc is composed of a material denser than the main material used for the remainder of the club head (excluding the inserts in the “wings” or neck).

. A putter-type golf club according to claim 1 in which the club head incorporates more than one through-hole that run the entire width of the club head and parallel to the face of the club head.

. A putter-type golf club according to claim 11 in which the through-holes are located on the club head between the neck insertion and the rear weight disc insertion.

. A putter-type golf club according to claim 12 in which the through-holes are equidistant and on the same horizontal axis.

. A putter-type golf club according to claim 1 in which the club can be assembled for a right-handed golfer or a left-handed golfer without any further mirrored parts by inserting the neck in the relevant lateral end of the club head.

. A putter-type golf club according to all preceding claims in which the club head is composed of aluminium save for the rear weight disc and small inserts in the “wings”.

. A putter-type golf club according to all preceding claims in which the club head can, subject to changing the weight of the rear weight disc and small inserts in the “wings”, remain identical irrespective of the length of the shaft or handle of the golf club.
