Abstract

Described herein are methods and compositions that can be used for diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

1 . A method of treating an individual with prostate or breast cancer, the method comprising administering an antibody that specifically binds to Liv-1. 
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the antibody is a monoclonal antibody. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the antibody is an antibody fragment. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the antibody is a humanized antibody. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the antibody is conjugated to an effector component. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 5 , wherein the effector component is chosen from the group consisting of a fluorescent label, a radioisotope or a cytotoxic chemical. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 6 , wherein the cytotoxic chemical is auristatin-E or MMAE. 
     
     
         8 . The method of  claim 1  comprising administering the antibody with a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient.
