Enhanced product tracking

Abstract

Enhanced product tracking, in which a data collection interface is established between a first supply management device and a transaction database, the data collection interface providing the transaction database with access to identification data and event data, the identification data uniquely identifying a pharmaceutical, and the event data relating to a supply chain process step for the pharmaceutical. Tracking also includes receiving a tracking request for formatted identification data and/or event data from a second supply management device; and establishing a data conversion interface between the second supply management device and the identification data and/or the event data, the data conversion interface providing the second supply management device with access to the identification data and/or the event data, according to the tracking request.

1 . A computer-implemented method for tracking a pharmaceutical, the method comprising:
 establishing a data collection interface between a first supply management device and a transaction database, the data collection interface providing the transaction database with access to identification data and event data, the identification data uniquely identifying the pharmaceutical, and the event data relating to a supply chain process step for the pharmaceutical;   receiving a tracking request for formatted identification data and/or event data from a second supply management device; and   establishing a data conversion interface between the second supply management device and the identification data and/or the event data, the data conversion interface providing the second supply management device with access to the identification data and/or the event data, according to the tracking request.   
     
     
         2 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the event data further relates to a diagnosing event, a financing event, an insurance event, a pregnancy detection event, an irradiation event, a temperature reading event, a pH reading event, a retailer feedback event, a dosing event, a weight gain or loss event, or a vaccination event. 
     
     
         3 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the pharmaceutical comprises a vaccine. 
     
     
         4 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the first or second supply management devices are associated with a bank, a pharmaceutical company, a physician, a nutritionist, or a marketing association. 
     
     
         5 . The method of  claim 1 , further comprising outputting a health history based on establishing the data conversion interface. 
     
     
         6 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein the first supply management device comprises an epidemiology database, a pharmaceutical database, or an e-commerce database. 
     
     
         7 . The method of  claim 1 , wherein receiving the tracking request for formatted identification data further comprises receiving the tracking request for specific lot numbers of a vaccine. 
     
     
         8 . A computer program product, tangibly embodied in a machine-readable medium, the computer program product for tracking a pharmaceutical, and the computer program product comprising instructions that, when read by a machine, operate to cause data processing apparatus to:
 establish a data collection interface between a first supply management device and a transaction database, the data collection interface providing the transaction database with access to identification data and event data, the identification data uniquely identifying the pharmaceutical, and the event data relating to a supply chain process step for the pharmaceutical;   receive a tracking request for formatted identification data and/or event data from a second supply management device; and   establish a data conversion interface between the second supply management device and the identification data and/or the event data, the data conversion interface providing the second supply management device with access to the identification data and/or the event data, according to the tracking request.

The computer program product of  claim 8 , wherein the event data further relates to a diagnosing event, a financing event, an insurance event, a pregnancy detection event, a temperature reading event, a pH reading event, an irradiation event, a retailer feedback event, dosing event, a weight gain or loss event, or a vaccination event. 
     
     
         10 . The computer program product of  claim 8 , wherein the first or second supply management devices are associated with a bank, a pharmaceutical company, a physician, a nutritionist, or a marketing association. 
     
     
         11 . The computer program product of  claim 8 , wherein the first supply management device comprises an epidemiology database, a pharmaceutical database, or an e-commerce database. 
     
     
         12 . The computer program product of  claim 8 , wherein receiving the tracking request for formatted identification data further comprises receiving the tracking request for specific lot numbers of a vaccine. 
     
     
         13 . A device for tracking a pharmaceutical comprising:
 a transaction database;   a data collection interface between a first supply management device and the transaction database, the data collection interface configured to provide the transaction database with access to identification data and event data, the identification data uniquely identifying the pharmaceutical, and the event data relating to a supply chain process step for the pharmaceutical;   an interface configured to receive a tracking request for formatted identification data and/or event data from a second supply management device; and   a data conversion interface between the second supply management device and the identification data and/or the event data, the data conversion interface configured to provide the second supply management device with access to the identification data and/or the event data, according to the tracking request.

The device of  claim 13 , wherein the event data further relates to a diagnosing event, a financing event, an insurance event, a pregnancy detection event, an irradiation event, a temperature reading event, a pH reading event, a retailer feedback event, dosing event, a weight gain or loss event, or a vaccination event. 
     
     
         15 . The device of  claim 13 , wherein the first or second supply management devices are associated with a bank, a pharmaceutical company, a physician, a nutritionist, or a marketing association. 
     
     
         16 . The device of  claim 13 , wherein the first supply management device comprises an epidemiology database, a pharmaceutical database, or an e-commerce database. 
     
     
         17 . The device of  claim 13 , wherein receiving the tracking request for formatted identification data further comprises receiving the tracking request for specific lot numbers of a vaccine. 
     
     
         18 . The device of  claim 13 , wherein the pharmaceutical comprises a vaccine. 
     
     
         19 . A computer-implemented method for tracking an animal-derived product, the method comprising:
 establishing a data collection interface between a first supply management device and a transaction database, the data collection interface providing the transaction database with access to identification data and event data, the identification data uniquely identifying the animal-derived product, and the event data relating to a supply chain process step for the animal-derived product;   receiving a tracking request for formatted identification data and/or event data from a second supply management device; and   establishing a data conversion interface between the second supply management device and the identification data and/or the event data, the data conversion interface providing the second supply management device with access to the identification data and/or the event data, according to the tracking request.   
     
     
         20 . A computer program product, tangibly embodied in a machine-readable medium, the computer program product for tracking an animal-derived product, and the computer program product comprising instructions that, when read by a machine, operate to cause data processing apparatus to:
 establish a data collection interface between a first supply management device and a transaction database, the data collection interface providing the transaction database with access to identification data and event data, the identification data uniquely identifying the animal-derived product, and the event data relating to a supply chain process step for the animal-derived product;   receive a tracking request for formatted identification data and/or event data from a second supply management device; and   establish a data conversion interface between the second supply management device and the identification data and/or the event data, the data conversion interface providing the second supply management device with access to the identification data and/or the event data, according to the tracking request.
