Abstract

The invention relates to a fluid that can be used for preventing or treating hypohydration and the secondary consequences thereof. The fluid comprises one or more carbohydrates and minerals and is further is characterized by a low osmolarity. The invention further relates to the use of such a fluid for medical, dietetic and other applications.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A fluid for preventing or treating hypohydration, comprising betaine, one or more digestible carbohydrates and one or more minerals, said fluid having an essentially hypotonic osmolarity.

2 . The fluid according to claim 1 , wherein the amount of betaine is 0.1-20 g/l wherein, and the fluid has an essentially hypotonic osmolarity of less than 280 mOsm/l.

3 . The fluid according to claim 1 , wherein at least one component selected from mannose, ribose and galactose is present.

4 . The fluid according to claim 3 , wherein the at least one component selected from mannose, ribose and galactose is present in a concentration of at least 0.5 g/l.

5 . The fluid according to claim 1 , wherein lipoic acid is present.

6 . The fluid according to claim 5 , wherein lipoic acid is present in a concentration of at least 20 mg/l.

7 . The fluid according to claim 1 , wherein caffeine is present.

8 . The fluid according to claim 7 , wherein caffeine is present in a concentration of 0.1-1 g/l.

9 . The fluid according to claim 1 , wherein malate is present.

10 . The fluid according to claim 9 , wherein malate is present in a concentration of 0.4-2 g/l.

11 . The fluid according to claim 1 , wherein the digestible carbohydrate concentration is between 10 and 80 g/l.

12 . A method for treating or preventing hypohydration, comprising the administration of a fluid according to claim 1 .

         13 . A concentrate for preparation of a fluid according to claim 1 .
