Sharps Container System for Two Piece Injection Device

Abstract

A sharps container system includes a disposable tip segment and a sharps container. The disposable tip segment has a dispensing chamber, a needle fluidly coupled to the dispensing chamber, and a housing at least partially enclosing the dispensing chamber. The sharps container has a cavity for receiving the disposable tip segment and an opening configured to engage the disposable tip segment so that the disposable tip segment is held in place while a limited reuse assembly is removed from the disposable tip segment.

1 . A sharps container comprising:
 a cavity for receiving a device with a needle; and   an opening configured to engage the device so that the device is held in place while a reusable assembly is removed from the device.   
     
     
         2 . The sharps container of  claim 1  wherein the opening has a surface that is configured to engage a surface on the device. 
     
     
         3 . The sharps container of  claim 1  wherein the opening has a protrusion that is configured to engage the device. 
     
     
         4 . The sharps container of  claim 1  wherein the opening has a shape that is configured to engage the device. 
     
     
         5 . The sharps container of  claim 1  wherein the opening is configured to retain the device while the reusable assembly is rotated with respect to the device. 
     
     
         6 . The sharps container of  claim 1  wherein the opening is configured unlock the device from the reusable assembly. 
     
     
         7 . A sharps container system comprising:
 a disposable tip segment comprising a dispensing chamber, a needle fluidly coupled to the dispensing chamber, and a housing at least partially enclosing the dispensing chamber; and   a sharps container comprising a cavity for receiving the disposable tip segment and an opening configured to engage the disposable tip segment so that the disposable tip segment is held in place while a limited reuse assembly is removed from the disposable tip segment.   
     
     
         8 . The sharps container system of  claim 7  wherein the opening has a surface that is configured to engage a surface on the housing. 
     
     
         9 . The sharps container system of  claim 7  wherein the opening has a protrusion that is configured to engage the disposable tip segment. 
     
     
         10 . The sharps container system of  claim 7  wherein the opening has a shape that is configured to engage the disposable tip segment. 
     
     
         11 . The sharps container system of  claim 7  wherein the opening is configured to retain the device while the limited reuse assembly is rotated with respect to the disposable tip segment. 
     
     
         12 . The sharps container of  claim 7  wherein the opening is configured unlock the disposable tip segment from the reusable assembly.
