Abstract

Benefit agent delivery compositions, compositions, packaged products and displays comprising such benefit agent delivery compositions, and processes for making and using such benefit agent delivery compositions, compositions, packaged products and displays. Such compositions have improved deposition and retention properties that may impart improved benefit characteristics to a composition and/or situs.

Claims

1 . A benefit delivery composition comprising:
 a.) a benefit agent; and   b.) a carrier comprising a material selected from the group consisting of:
 (i) a reaction product of a polyamine comprising at least one primary or secondary amine and a material selected from the group consisting of a monofunctional isocyanate, an epoxide and mixtures thereof; 
 (ii) a combination of a carboxyl-terminated poly(butadiene-co-acrylonitrile) and a polyamine; 
 (iii) a carboxyl-terminated poly(butadiene-co-acrylonitrile); 
 (iv) an amine-terminated poly(butadiene-co-acrylonitrile); and 
   (v) mixtures thereof.   
     
     
         2 . The benefit delivery composition of  claim 1  comprising a material selected from the reaction product of a polyamine comprising at least one primary or secondary amine and a material selected from the group consisting of a monofunctional isocyanate, an epoxide and mixtures thereof. 
     
     
         3 . The benefit delivery composition of  claim 1  comprising the reaction product of a polyamine comprising at least one primary or secondary amine and a monofunctional isocyanate. 
     
     
         4 . The benefit delivery composition of  claim 1  comprising the reaction product of a polyamine comprising at least one primary or secondary amine and an epoxide. 
     
     
         5 . The benefit delivery composition of  claim 1  comprising the reaction product of a polyamine comprising at least one primary or secondary amine and a monofunctional isocyanate and an epoxide. 
     
     
         6 . The benefit delivery composition of  claim 1  wherein:
 a.) said polyamine comprising at least one primary or secondary amine is selected from the group consisting of polyalkylamines, polyallylamines, polyvinylamines, amine terminated poly(butadiene-co-acrylonitrile)s, polyamino-substituted polysaccharides, amino functionalized polydialkylsiloxanes, polyaminoalkyls, poly (amino acids), bis(3-aminopropyl)piperazine, N,N-Bis(3-aminopropyl)methylamine, tris(2-aminoethyl)amine and mixtures thereof;   b.) said monofunctional isocyanate is selected from the group consisting of alkyl isocyanates, cyclohexylisocyanates, aromatic isocyanates and mixtures thereof;   c.) said expoxide comprises a monoepoxide comprising a glycidyl ether.   
     
     
         7 . A benefit delivery composition according to  claim 1  wherein said benefit agent comprises a material selected from the group consisting of Table 1 perfumes, Table 2 perfumes, Table 3 perfumes and mixtures thereof. 
     
     
         8 . A benefit delivery composition according to  claim 1  wherein said benefit agent comprises a perfume selected from the group consisting of 4-methoxybenzaldehyde; 4-phenylbutan-2-one; 3,7-dimethyl-2-methylene-6-octenal; 4-(2,6,6-trimethyl cyclohex-1-ene-1-yl) but-3-ene-2-one; 2,4-dimethylcyclohex-3-ene-1-carbaldehyde; 2-methyl-3-(para iso propylphenyl)propionaldehyde; 2-Buten-1-one, 1-(2,6,6-trimethyl-1,3-cyclohexadien-1-yl)-; 1-cyclohexyl-ethylene-crotonate; 1-(2,6,6-trimethyl-3-cyclohexen-1-yl)-2-buten-1-one; 3-methyl cyclopentadecenone; 4-(2,6,6-trimethyl-1-cyclohexenyl)butan-2-one; 2,5-Dimethyl-2-octen-6-one; dihydro-nor-cyclopentadienyl acetate; 3-(o-(and p-)ethylphenyl)-2,2-dimethylpropionaldehyde; 3-(3-isopropylphenyl) butanal; 3-Buten-2-one, 3-methyl-4-(2,6,6-trimethyl-2-cyclohexen-1-yl)-; alpha-methyl-3,4(methylenedioxy)hydrocinnamaldehyde; n-hexyl ortho hydroxy benzoate; 7-acetyl-1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8-octahydro-1,1,6,7,tetramethyl naphthalene; 4-(1-Ethoxyvinyl)-3,3,5,5-tetra-methyl-cyclohexan-1-one; 2-Cyclohexen-1-one, 2-methyl-5-(1-methylethenyl)-, (R)-; 2,4-Dimethyl-3-cyclohexene-1-carboxaldehyde; 3,7-dimethyl-1,6-octadien-3-ol; 2,6-Dimethyl-5-Heptenal; Methyl Dihydro Jasmonate; Methyl Nonyl Acetaldehyde; 6,6-dimethoxy-2,5,5-trimethylhex-2-ene; 2-Cyclohexen-1-one, 2-methyl-5-(1-methylethenyl)-, (R) —; Octaldehyde; 2-Cyclohexyl-1,6-heptadien-3-one and mixtures thereof. 
     
     
         9 . A benefit delivery composition according to  claim 7  wherein said benefit agent comprises an encapsulated perfume. 
     
     
         10 . A benefit delivery composition according to  claim 9  wherein said encapsulated perfume is encapsulated by a shell comprising cross-linked melamine formaldehyde. 
     
     
         11 . A benefit delivery composition according to  claim 9  wherein said encapsulated perfume comprises a material selected from the group consisting of:
 a.) a perfume composition having a Clog P of less than 4.5;   b.) a perfume composition comprising, based on total perfume composition weight, at least 60% perfume materials having a Clog P of less than 4.0;   c.) a perfume composition comprising, based on total perfume composition weight, at least 35% perfume materials having a Clog P of less than 3.5;   d.) a perfume composition comprising, based on total perfume composition weight, at least 40% perfume materials having a Clog P of less than 4.0 and at least 1% perfume materials having a Clog P of less than 2.0;   e.) a perfume composition comprising, based on total perfume composition weight, at least 40% perfume materials having a Clog P of less than 4.0 and at least 15% perfume materials having a Clog P of less than 3.0;   f.) a perfume composition comprising, based on total perfume composition weight, at least 1% of a butanoate ester and at least 1% of a pentanoate ester;   g.) a perfume composition comprising, based on total perfume composition weight, at least 2% of an ester comprising an allyl moiety and at least 10% of another perfume comprising an ester moiety;   h.) a perfume composition comprising, based on total perfume composition weight, at least 1% of an aldehyde comprising an alkyl chain moiety;   i.) a perfume composition comprising, based on total perfume composition weight, at least 2% of a butanoate ester;   j.) a perfume composition comprising, based on total perfume composition weight, at least 1% of a pentanoate ester;   k.) a perfume composition comprising, based on total perfume composition weight, at least 3% of an ester comprising an allyl moiety and at least 1% of an aldehyde comprising an alkyl chain moiety;   l.) a perfume composition comprising, based on total perfume composition weight, at least 25% of a perfume comprising an ester moiety and at least 1% of an aldehyde comprising an alkyl chain moiety;   m.) a perfume compositions comprising, based on total perfume composition weight, at least 2% of a material selected from ionones, like 4-(2,6,6-trimethyl-1-cyclohexenyl)-3-buten-2-one, 4-(2,6,6-trimethyl-2-cyclohexenyl)-3-buten-2-one and 3-buten-2-one,3-methyl-4-(2,6,6-trimethyl-1-cyclohexen-2-yl)- and mixtures thereof;   n.) a perfume composition comprising, based on total perfume composition weight, at least 0.1% of tridec-2-enonitrile, and mandaril, and mixtures thereof;   o.) a perfume composition comprising, based on total perfume composition weight, at least 2% of a material selected from 3,7-Dimethyl-6-octene nitrile, 2-cyclohexylidene-2-phenylacetonitrile and mixtures thereof;   p.) a perfume composition comprising, based on total perfume composition weight, at least 80% of one or more perfumes comprising a moiety selected from the group consisting of esters, aldehydes, ionones, nitrites, ketones and combinations thereof;   q.) a perfume composition comprising, based on total perfume composition weight, at least 3% of an ester comprising an allyl moiety; a perfume composition comprising, based on total perfume composition weight, at least 20% of a material selected from the group consisting of: 1-methylethyl-2-methylbutanoate; 3-buten-2-one, 3-methyl-4-(2,6,6-trimethyl-1-cyclohexen-2-yl)-; patchouli oil; Hexanoic acid, 2-propenyl ester; 1-Octanal; 1-decyl aldehyde; (z)-non-6-en-1-al; methyl nonyl acetic aldehyde; ethyl-2-methylbutanoate; 1-methylethyl-2-methylbutanoate; ethyl-2-methyl pentanoate; 4-hydroxy-3-ethoxybenzaldehyde; 4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde; 3-hydroxy-2-methyl-4-pyrone; 3-hydroxy-2-ethyl-4-pyrone and mixtures thereof,   t.) a perfume composition comprising, based on total perfume composition weight, less than 10% of a perfume having a Clog P greater than 5.0;   u.) a perfume composition comprising geranyl palmitate; or   v.) a perfume composition comprising a first and an optional second material, said first material having:
 (i) a Clog P of at least 2; 
 (ii) a boiling point of less than about 280° C.; and 
   said optional second material, when present, having
 (i) a Clog P of less than 2.5; and 
 (ii) a ODT of less than about 100 ppb. 
   
     
     
         12 . A benefit delivery composition according to  claim 1  having a benefit agent to carrier ratio of from about 9:1 to about 1:9. 
     
     
         13 . A benefit delivery composition according to  claim 1  wherein said carrier comprises a material selected from the group consisting of:
 e.) a reaction product of a polyamine comprising at least one primary or secondary amine and a material selected from the group consisting of a monofunctional isocyanate, an epoxide and mixtures thereof; wherein the ratio of said polyamine to said material is from about 1:9 to about 9:1 and the ratio of monofunctional isocyanate to epoxide is from about 0:1 to about 1:0;   f.) a combination of carboxyl-terminated poly(butadiene-co-acrylonitrile) and a polyamine, wherein the ratio of carboxyl-terminated poly(butadiene-co-acrylonitrile) to polyamine is from about 99:1 to about 1:99;   g.) a carboxyl-terminated poly(butadiene-co-acrylonitrile);   h.) an amine-terminated poly(butadiene-co-acrylonitrile); and   e.) mixtures thereof.   
     
     
         14 . A benefit agent delivery composition having a Wet Adhesion Index of greater than or equal to about 2. 
     
     
         15 . The benefit delivery composition of  claim 14 , said benefit delivery composition having a viscosity of from about 250 cps to about 10,000,000 cps. 
     
     
         16 . A consumer product comprising, based on total composition weight, at least about 0.01% of the benefit agent delivery composition of  claim 1  and an adjunct ingredient. 
     
     
         17 . A consumer product comprising a benefit agent delivery composition according to  claim 1  and packaging, at least a portion of said benefit agent composition being attached or adhered to said packaging. 
     
     
         18 . A display comprising a composition according to  claim 1  and a display material, at least a portion of said composition being attached or adhered to said display material. 
     
     
         19 . A consumer product comprising a composition according to  claim 1  and a material selected from the group consisting of a surfactant, an enzyme, a polymer, a dye, a neat perfume, a perfume delivery system and mixtures thereof. 
     
     
         20 . A cleaning and/or treatment composition or fabric care composition comprising a composition according to  claim 1  and at least one cleaning and/or treatment composition or fabric care adjunct ingredient. 
     
     
         21 . A method of treating and/or cleaning a situs, said method comprising
 a.) optionally washing and/or rinsing said situs;   b.) contacting said situs with a composition according to  claim 1 ; and   c.) optionally washing and/or rinsing said situs.   
     
     
         22 . A situs treated with a composition according to  claim 1 . 
     
     
         23 . A particle comprising the composition of  claim 1 , said particle comprising a microcapsule and/or an agglomerate, at least a portion of said composition of  claim 1  coating at least a portion of said microcapsule and/or agglomerate. 
     
     
         24 . A solid or fluid comprising the benefit delivery agent composition of  claim 1 , said solid or fluid being an agglomerate, emulsion, solution, prill, bead or encapsulate.
