Abstract

The present invention relates to polynucleotide and polypeptide molecules for Zcyto21, an interferon-like protein, which is most closely related to interferon-α at the amino acid sequence level. The present invention also includes antibodies to the Zcyto21 polypeptides, and methods of using the polynucleotides and polypeptides.

1 . An isolated antibody or antibody fragment that specifically binds with a polypeptide consisting of an amino acid sequence having at least 95% sequence identity to amino acid residues 20-200 of SEQ ID NO:2. 
     
     
         2 . The isolated antibody of  claim 1  wherein the antibody has at least 96% sequence identity to amino acid residues 20-200 of SEQ ID NO:2. 
     
     
         3 . The isolated antibody of  claim 1  wherein the antibody has at least 97% sequence identity to amino acid residues 20-200 of SEQ ID NO:2. 
     
     
         4 . The isolated antibody of  claim 1  wherein the antibody has at least 98% sequence identity to amino acid residues 20-200 of SEQ ID NO:2. 
     
     
         5 . The isolated antibody of  claim 1  wherein the antibody has at least 99% sequence identity to amino acid residues 20-200 of SEQ ID NO:2. 
     
     
         6 . The isolated antibody of  claim 1  wherein the antibody is monoclonal. 
     
     
         7 . The isolated antibody of  claim 1  wherein the antibody is humanized. 
     
     
         8 . The isolated antibody of  claim 1  wherein the antibody is polyclonal. 
     
     
         9 . The isolated antibody of  claim 1  wherein the antibody fragment is a F(ab′) 2 , a Fab, or a single chain antibody. 
     
     
         10 . The isolated antibody of  claim 1  wherein the amino acid sequence consists of amino acid residues 20-200 of SEQ ID NO:2.
