Abstract

The invention provides novel polynucleotides and polypeptides encoded by such polynucleotides and mutants or variants thereof that correspond to a novel human secreted stem cell growth factor-like polypeptides. Other aspects of the invention include vectors containing processes for producing novel human secreted stem cell growth factor-like polypeptides, and antibodies specific for such polypeptides.

6 . A composition comprising the polypeptide of claim 1 and a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient.

7 . A composition comprising the polypeptide of claim 2 and a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient.

8 . A composition comprising the polypeptide of claim 3 and a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient.

9 . A composition comprising the polypeptide of claim 4 and a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient.

10 . A composition comprising the polypeptide of claim 5 and a pharmaceutically acceptable excipient.

11 . A method of producing the polypeptide of claim 1 comprising:
 (a) culturing a host cell comprising a polynucleotide sequence encoding said polypeptide, under conditions sufficient to express the polypeptide in said cell; and (b) isolating the polypeptide from the cell culture or cells in step (a).

12 . A method of producing the polypeptide of claim 2 comprising:
