Abstract

A rail loading train for transporting long welded rails includes a device at the end of the rail loading train for anchoring the rails. The device includes a plurality of insertion devices each being provided for anchoring a single rail and having an inserting opening and a rail stop. Each insertion device has two clamping jaws which are spaced from one another in a direction extending perpendicularly to a rail web of the rail to be clamped, for forming the inserting opening. At least one clamping jaw is equipped with a clamping device for contacting the rail web and for automatic force-locking connection to said rail web, effective against a direction of insertion. Both clamping jaws are constructed for being spaced from one another for releasing the force-locking connection to the rail web.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A rail loading train for transporting long welded rails, the rail loading train comprising:
 a) loading cars mobile on a track; b) a device disposed at an end of the rail loading train for anchoring the rails, said device for anchoring the rails including a plurality of insertion devices each provided for anchoring a single rail and having an inserting opening and a rail stop; c) each of said insertion devices including two clamping jaws being spaced from one another in a direction extending perpendicularly to a rail web of the rail to be clamped, for forming said inserting opening; d) at least one of said clamping jaws having a clamping device for contacting the rail web and for automatic force-locking connection to the rail web, effective against a direction of insertion of the rail to be clamped; and e) both of said clamping jaws being constructed for being spaced from one another for releasing said force-locking connection to the rail web.

2 . The rail loading train according to claim 1 , which further comprises:
a recess having a first end disposed closer to the rail stop, a second end disposed farther from the rail stop and a pressing surface interconnecting said first and second ends, said pressing surface being inclined relative to a plane of symmetry of the rail to form an angle; and a pressure medium for displacing each of said clamping devices from said first end towards said second end of said recess along said pressing surface for guiding and applying said clamping devices.

3 . The rail loading train according to claim 1 , wherein said two clamping jaws each have an end facing away from said clamping device, being connected to one another at a joint and being pivotable about a pivot axis extending parallel to a plane of symmetry of the rail.

4 . The rail loading train according to claim 3 , wherein each of said two clamping devices has a clamping roller rotatable about an axis of rotation, said pivot axis being positioned parallel to said axes of rotation.

5 . The rail loading train according to claim 1 , which further comprises a pressure medium for moving said two clamping jaws apart.

6 . The rail loading train according to claim 1 , which further comprises displacement drives each being connected to a respective one of said insertion devices for displacement in a direction of displacement extending in a plane of symmetry of the rail.

7 . The rail loading train according to claim 6 , which further comprises a centering cage for housing both of said clamping jaws, said centering cage having a V-shaped opening tapered in a direction towards said displacement drive.

8 . The rail loading train according to claim 7 , wherein said clamping jaws are displaceable relative to said centering cage, with actuation of said displacement drive, from a clamping position into an opening position in which said two clamping jaws are automatically moved apart by action of a pressure medium.

9 . The rail loading train according to claim 1 , which further comprises a pivot drive for adjusting said device for anchoring the rails from a working position for clamping the rails into an inoperative position situated above or below the rails.

10 . The rail loading train according to claim 9 , wherein said device for anchoring the rails is one of two devices for anchoring the rails each being disposed at a respective end of the rail loading train, said devices for anchoring the rails each being vertically adjustable relative to the rail loading train and equipped with a respective pivot drive.
