Abstract

A wading boot comprising an outsole and a plurality of studs, wherein the outsole comprises a gulch area, wherein the gulch area is located directly underneath the instep of the wearer's foot, and wherein the studs are located solely in the gulch area of the outsole. The studs are preferably made of carbide, but they can also be made of any suitable material. The present invention relates to stud placement and is not limited in terms of the composition, design, number, size or configuration of the studs themselves, as long as they are located in the gulch area of the outsole.

1 . A wading boot comprising an outsole and a plurality of studs, wherein the outsole comprises a gulch area, a heel area, and a toe area, wherein the gulch area is located between the heel area and the toe area, and wherein the studs are located solely in the gulch area of the outsole. 
   
   
       2 . The wading boot of  claim 1 , wherein the studs are comprised of carbide. 
   
   
       3 . The wading boot of  claim 1 , wherein the studs are co-molded into the outsole. 
   
   
       4 . The wading boot of  claim 1 , wherein the studs are removably attached to the outsole. 
   
   
       5 . The wading boot of  claim 1 , wherein the boot is worn by a wearer, wherein the wearer comprises a foot, wherein the foot comprises an instep, and wherein the gulch area of the boot is located directly underneath the instep of the wearer. 
   
   
       6 . The wading boot of  claim 1 , wherein the outsole further comprises a toe area and a heel area, wherein when the boot is worn by a wearer on a flat surface, at least a portion of both the toe area and the heel area are in direct contact with the flat surface, and the studs are not in contact with the flat surface.
