Laser Scored Pour Spout For Flexible Bag

Abstract

An easy open, reclosable, flexible film package comprising a front wall, a back wall, a pair of opposing side gussets; a bottom; and a top; wherein the top is sealed; wherein the pair of opposing side gussets and the bottom wall connect the front wall to the back wall; wherein one side gusset has a score line extending from front to back; wherein when the score line is broken a spout is formed by pulling the side gusset below the score line.

An easy open, reclosable, flexible film package comprising a front wall, a back wall, a pair of opposing side gussets; a bottom; and a top; wherein the top is sealed; wherein the pair of opposing side walls and the bottom wall connect the front wall to the back wall; wherein one side gusset has a score line extending from front to back; wherein when the score line is broken a spout is formed by pulling the side gusset below the score line. 
     
     
         2 . The easy open, reclosable, flexible film package according to  claim 1  wherein the package can be closed by pushing the pour spout in toward the package. 
     
     
         3 . The easy open, reclosable, flexible film package according to  claim 2  further comprising adhesive tape attached to the package to apply to the front and back of the package to squeeze the side together after closing the package. 
     
     
         4 . The easy open, reclosable, flexible film package according to  claim 1  wherein the adhesive tape is attached to the gusset above the score line or below the score line. 
     
     
         5 . The easy open, reclosable, flexible film package according to  claim 1  wherein the side gusset with the score line has a fold or crease extending from top to bottom. 
     
     
         6 . The easy open, reclosable, flexible film package according to  claim 1  wherein the bottom has a rectangular shape. 
     
     
         7 . The easy open, reclosable, flexible film package according to  claim 1  wherein the flexible film comprises at least two layers. 
     
     
         8 . The easy open, reclosable, flexible film package according to  claim 7  wherein an outer layer comprises oriented polymer films. 
     
     
         9 . The easy open, reclosable, flexible film package according to  claim 7  wherein an inner layer comprises a polyolefin or a foil. 
     
     
         10 . The easy open, reclosable, flexible film package according to  claim 1  wherein the score line is a straight line. 
     
     
         11 . The easy open, reclosable, flexible film package according to  claim 1  wherein the score line is a straight line. 
     
     
         12 . The easy open, reclosable, flexible film package according to  claim 11  wherein the score line is a U-shape. 
     
     
         13 . The easy open, reclosable, flexible film package according to  claim 1  wherein the bottom is flat. 
     
     
         14 . The easy open, reclosable, flexible film package according to  claim 1  wherein the score line is in the cross-machine direction. 
     
     
         15 . The easy open, reclosable, flexible film package according to  claim 1  wherein at least one side wall is transparent. 
     
     
         16 . The easy open, reclosable, flexible film package according to  claim 1  wherein the score line has a tensile strength of 4.0 lbs/in to 16 lbs/in.

An easy open, reclosable, flexible film package comprising a front wall, a back wall, a top gusset and a bottom gusset; and a pair of opposing sides; wherein the opposing sides are sealed; wherein the top gusset and bottom gusset connect the front wall to the back wall; wherein the top gusset has a score line extending from side to side; wherein when the score line is broken an opening is formed by pulling apart the front wall and the back wall. 
     
     
         18 . An easy open, reclosable, flexible film package according to  claim 17  wherein the flexible package can stand upright on the bottom gusset. 
     
     
         19 . An easy open, reclosable, flexible film package according to  claim 17  wherein the score line has a tensile strength of 4.0 lbs/in to 16 lbs/in.
