Abstract

A system and method for a gaming opportunity including a server to provide a gaming opportunity, a communications network, and a player device in communication with the server through the communications network to request access to the gaming opportunity for a player, the player device including a user interface through which user identification data is sent to the server, wherein the server includes an eligibility determination module to determine eligibility of the player for the gaming opportunity based on the user identification data, and a conditional play module to provide assistance during play of the gaming opportunity.

1 . A system for a gaming opportunity, comprising:
 a server to provide a gaming opportunity;   a communications network; and   a player device in communication with the server through the communications network to request access to the gaming opportunity for a player, the player device including a user interface through which user identification data is sent to the server,   wherein the server includes
 an eligibility determination module to determine eligibility of the player for the gaming opportunity based on the user identification data, and 
 a conditional play module to provide assistance during play of the gaming opportunity.

The system of  claim 1 , wherein the eligibility determination module is configured to obtain disparate data of the player from a plurality of data sources based on the user identification data and weighting the data based on at least one business rule to determine a scale of eligibility of the player for the gaming opportunity. 
   
   
       3 . The system of  claim 2 , wherein the eligibility determination module including at least one decision model to generate at least one composite score indicative of the scale of eligibility of the player. 
   
   
       4 . The system of  claim 3 , wherein the decision model includes weighting of the player data. 
   
   
       5 . The system of  claim 2 , wherein the server includes an account module to determine the existence of an account for the player based on the user identification data or to open an account if no account exists for the player. 
   
   
       6 . The system of  claim 2 , wherein the server includes a validation module to verify the player data based on at least one independent data source. 
   
   
       7 . The system of  claim 2 , wherein the player data includes location information. 
   
   
       8 . The system of  claim 7 , wherein the location information is based on one or more of
 an IP address from which the player device is in communication with the server,   a Media Access Control (MAC) address of the player device,   a serial number of the player device,   a reverse email directory, and   a gaming facility database.   
   
   
       9 . The system of  claim 7 , wherein the eligibility determination module determines if the player device is in an authorized jurisdiction. 
   
   
       10 . The system of  claim 7 , wherein the eligibility determination module determines if the player device is in an authorized location within a jurisdiction. 
   
   
       11 . The system of  claim 2 , wherein the eligibility determination module determines if the player device is an authorized access device. 
   
   
       12 . The system of  claim 2 , wherein weights for the weighting are adjustable. 
   
   
       13 . The system of  claim 2 , wherein the player data are weighted based on age of the player data.

       24 . The system of  claim 2 , wherein the composite score includes an averaged base score.

       32 . The system of  claim 30 , wherein the cost of annoyance is based on estimated player revenue, probability that the player will not leave, cost of allowing the player to play, and probability that the player is ineligible. 
   
   
       33 . The system of  claim 32 , wherein estimated player revenue is calculated based on a theoretical win per game and the number of times an average player plays a game. 
   
   
       34 . The system of  claim 30 , wherein the player is indicated as eligible for the gaming opportunity if the cost of annoyance is within a third range. 
   
   
       35 . The system of  claim 30 , wherein the player is indicated as ineligible for the gaming opportunity if the cost of annoyance is within a fourth range. 
   
   
       36 . The system of  claim 30 , where the player is manually screened for eligibility for the gaming opportunity if the cost of annoyance is between a third and fourth threshold. 
   
   
       37 . The system of  claim 30 , wherein the cost of annoyance is determined by subtracting the cost of a false positive from the revenue lost from not allowing the player to play.

       39 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the conditional play module includes coaching to coach the player during play.

       52 . A method for providing a gaming opportunity, comprising the steps of:
 generating a request for a gaming opportunity, the request including user identification data;   performing an eligibility determination based on the request to determine eligibility of the player; and   allowing access to the gaming opportunity under conditional play requirements based on the eligibility determination.   
   
   
       53 . A computer program product comprising computer readable medium having stored thereon computer executable instructions that, when executed on a computer, causes the computer to perform a method for providing a gaming opportunity comprising the steps of:
 generating a request for a gaming opportunity, the request including user identification data;   performing an eligibility determination based on the request to determine eligibility of the player; and   allowing access to the gaming opportunity under conditional play requirements based on the eligibility determination.
