Liquid crystal display device, substrate assembly for liquid crystal display device, and electronic apparatus
Abstract
A liquid crystal display device having a first sub pixel and a second sub pixel. The first sub pixel corresponds to a first color layer having a first color. The second sub pixel corresponds to a second color layer having a second color. The first and second sub pixels each have a rectangular shape that includes a pair of longer sides. A first reflective region and a second reflective region, in which first and second reflective films are disposed, each extend across the first sub pixel and the second sub pixel respectively between the longer sides. A first transmissive region and a second transmission region, in which the reflective films are not disposed, each extend entirely across the first sub pixel and the second sub pixel respectively between the longer sides. An area of the first reflective region is different from an area of the second reflective region.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A liquid crystal display panel comprising:
a first substrate; a second substrate; a liquid crystal layer disposed between the first substrate and the second substrate; sub-pixels having a rectangular shape with a pair of opposing long side and a pair of opposing short sides, at least two of the sub-pixels corresponding to different colors, each sub-pixel including a reflective display region and a transmissive display region in an area other than the reflective display region; island-shaped reflectors provided between the second substrate and the liquid crystal layer, the reflectors each disposed in the reflective display region of one of the sub-pixels and reflecting light incident from the first substrate for reflective display; and color filters provided in correspondence with the sub-pixels and located closer to the first substrate than the reflectors, each color filter only partially overlapping the reflector in the corresponding sub-pixel, both the reflective display region and the transmissive display region of at least one of the sub-pixels overlapping with both lengthwise sides of the at least one of the sub-pixels.
2 . The liquid crystal display panel according to claim 1 , the color filters being disposed in between the first substrate and the liquid crystal layer.
3 . The liquid crystal display panel according to claim 1 , a region where no color filter is provided in one sub-pixel has a three-dimensional area that is different from a three-dimensional area of a region where no color filter is provided in a different sub-pixel.
4 . The liquid crystal display panel according to claim 1 , a three-dimensional area of a reflector in one sub-pixel being different from a three-dimensional area of a reflector in a different sub-pixel.
5 . The liquid crystal display panel according to claim 1 , further comprising a light blocking layer that surrounds each sub-pixel.
6 . The liquid crystal display panel according to claim 1 , further comprising an electrode that applies voltage to the liquid crystal, the electrode being electrically connected to one of the reflectors.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
