Abstract
The present invention relates to extracts from Cimicifuga species and particularly from Cimicifuga racemosa , which are suited for producing a ready-formulated drug for the selective treatment and/or prophylaxis of sexual hormone-related disorders of the uro-genital tract. The extracts in accordance with the invention are moreover suited for the treatment and/or prophylaxis of post-menopausal urinary bladder infections. They are furthermore indicated for the treatment of benign and malignant prostate hyperplasies.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A method for alleviating a sexual hormone-related disorder of the uro-genital tract comprising the step of administering an estrogen-type organoselective medicament having at most a negligible uterotrophic effect, the medicament comprising an extract from a Cimicifuga species.
. The method of claim 1 wherein the sexual hormone-related disorder of the uro-genital tract is a post-menopausally occurring disorder.
. The method of claim 2 wherein the post-menopausally occurring disorder is selected from the group consisting of urinary bladder infection and dry vagina.
. The method of claim 3 wherein the Cimicifuga species is selected from the group consisting of: C. racemosa, C. foetida, C. dahurica, C. heracleifolia, C. simplex, C. japonica, C. europaea, C. acerina, C. elata, C. rubifolia.
. The method of claim 4 wherein the Cimicifuga species is C. racemosa.
. The method of claim 1 wherein the extract is produced from a Cimicifuga species by extraction with an organic solvent.
. The method of claim 1 wherein the extract is produced from a Cimicifuga species by extraction with a mixture of an organic solvent and water.
. The method of claim 1 wherein the extract is produced from a Cimicifuga species by extraction with supercritical CO 2 .
. An estrogen-type organoselective medicament having at most a negligible uterotrophic effect, the medicament comprising an extract from a Cimicifuga species, the medicament alleviating a sexual hormone-related disorder of the uro-genital tract when administered.
. The medicament of claim 9 wherein the sexual hormone-related disorder of the uro-genital tract is a post-menopausally occurring disorder.
. The medicament of claim 10 wherein the post-menopausally occurring disorder is selected from the group consisting of urinary bladder infection and dry vagina.
. The medicament of claim 9 wherein the Cimicifuga species is selected from the group consisting of: C. racemosa, C. foetida, C. dahurica, C. heracleifolia, C. simplex, C. japonica, C. europaea, C. acerina, C. elata, C. rubifolia.
. The medicament of claim 12 wherein the Cimicifuga species is C. racemosa.
. The medicament of claim 9 wherein the extract is produced from a Cimicifuga species by extraction with an organic solvent.
. The medicament of claim 9 wherein the extract is produced from a Cimicifuga species by extraction with a mixture of an organic solvent and water.
. The medicament of claim 9 wherein the extract is produced from a Cimicifuga species by extraction with supercritical CO 2 .
. An estrogen-type organoselective medicament, the medicament comprising an extract from a Cimicifuga species, the medicament alleviating a prostatic disorder selected from the group consisting of benign and malignant prostate hyperplasy.
. The medicament of claim 17 wherein the Cimicifuga species is selected from the group consisting of: C. racemosa, C. foetida, C. dahurica, C. heracleifolia, C. simplex, C. japonica, C. europaea, C. acerina, C. elata, C. rubifolia.
. The medicament of claim 18 wherein the Cimicifuga species is C.
. The medicament of claim 17 wherein the extract is produced from a Cimicifuga species by extraction with an organic solvent.
. The medicament of claim 17 wherein the extract is produced from a Cimicifuga species by extraction with a mixture of an organic solvent and water.
. The medicament of claim 17 wherein the extract is produced from a Cimicifuga species by extraction with supercritical CO 2 .Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
