Abstract

A recording type optical disk on which data is recordable includes a data recording and reproducing area for recording data therein and reproducing data therefrom, and a read-only disk identification information area for recording disk identification information for identifying the optical disk therein. In the optical disk, the disk identification information is formed by removing a reflection film that is formed on the optical disk in a strip shape. The disk identification information includes an inherent disk identifier for each optical disk, and the data recording and reproducing area includes an area for recording encrypted data therein. The encrypted data is encrypted by using information including the disk identification information for identifying the optical disk as a key.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . An optical disk comprising:
a first area configured in a circumferential direction with respect to a surface of the optical disk and in the form of a plurality of stripes, said first area including an area in which a signal having a reduced quantity of reflected light is intermittently obtained; and a second area configured to record user data when irradiated with an optical beam, wherein said first area is formed on the optical disk so as to be separated from said second area by a predetermined radial distance, and data recorded in said first area as convex and concave pits is further recorded at locations between said first area and said second area.

2 . An optical disk recording apparatus for use with an optical disk, the optical disk including a first area configured in a circumferential direction with respect to a surface of the optical disk and in the form of a plurality of stripes, said first area including an area in which a signal having a reduced quantity of reflected light is intermittently obtained, and the optical disk further including a second area,
wherein said first area is formed on the optical disk so as to be separated from said second area by a predetermined radial distance, and data recorded in said first area as convex and concave pits is further recorded at locations between said first area and said second area, and the optical disk recording apparatus includes a recording means for recording user data by irradiating said second area with an optical beam.

3 . An optical disk reproducing apparatus for use with an optical disk, the optical disk including a first area configured in a circumferential direction with respect to a surface of the optical disk and in the form of a plurality of stripes and including an area in which a signal having a reduced quantity of reflected light is intermittently obtained, the optical disk further including a second area configured to record user data when irradiated with an optical beam,
wherein said first area is formed on the optical disk so as to be separated from said second area by a predetermined radial distance, and data recorded in said first area as convex and concave pits is further recorded at locations between said first area and said second area, and the optical disk reproducing apparatus includes a reproducing means for performing one of reproducing said first area and reproducing the user data recorded in said second area.

4 . An optical disk recording method for recording information on an optical disk, the method comprising:
forming a first area in a circumferential direction with respect to a surface of the optical disk and in the form of a plurality of stripes, the first area including an area in which a signal having a reduced quantity of reflected light is intermittently obtained; and storing in a second area user data by irradiating the second area with an optical beam, wherein the first area is formed on the optical disk so as to be separated from the second area by a predetermined radial distance, and data recorded in the first area as convex and concave pits is further recorded at locations between the first area and the second area.

5 . An optical disk reproducing method for reproducing information from an optical disk, the method comprising:
forming a first area in a circumferential direction with respect to a surface of the optical disk and in the form of a plurality of stripes, the first area including an area in which a signal having a reduced quantity of reflected light is intermittently obtained; and storing in a second area user data by irradiating the second area with an optical beam, wherein the first area is formed on the optical disk so as to be separated from the second area by a predetermined radial distance, and data recorded in the first area as convex and concave pits is further recorded at locations between the first area and the second area.
