Claims

Abstract

A fastener for a socket connector includes a frame and a pressing assembly. The frame has an opening and a plurality of protrusions. The protrusions extend from inner edges of the frame toward the opening. The pressing assembly has a cover and a buckling piece. The cover is pivotally connected to the frame. The buckling piece locks the cover on the frame. Using the above arrangement, the protrusions are used to accurately align the socket connector within the opening, thus the inter edge surface of the frame is aligned with the outer peripheral surface of the socket connector. In this way, the pressing assembly of the frame can be operated accurately to lock and press a chip module on the socket connector.

1 . A fastener for a socket connector, comprising:
 a frame having an opening and a plurality of protrusions, the protrusions extending from inner edges of the frame toward the opening; and   a pressing assembly having a cover and a buckling piece, the cover being pivotally connected to the frame, and the buckling piece locking the cover to the frame.   
   
   
       2 . The fastener for a socket connector according to  claim 1 , wherein the frame includes side portions opposed to each other, and end portions opposed to each other, and wherein the protrusions extend from one end portion and both side portions of the inner edges of the frame toward the opening. 
   
   
       3 . The fastener for a socket connector according to  claim 1 , wherein the frame has two partitioning walls, the two partitioning walls extend upwardly from both sides of the frame. 
   
   
       4 . The fastener for a socket connector according to  claim 1 , wherein one end of the cover is pivotally connected to one end of the frame, the buckling piece is pivotally connected to the other end of the cover. 
   
   
       5 . The fastener for a socket connector according to  claim 4 , wherein the buckling piece has a pivoting plate and a rocking plate, the pivoting plate has a tongue, and the frame includes a blocking plate having an opening therein to interact with the tongue to retain the cover to the frame. 
   
   
       6 . The fastener for a socket connector according to  claim 4 , wherein one end of the cover has a pair of holes, one end of the frame is provided with a pair of connecting portions, the pair of holes is pivotally connected onto the pair of connecting portions. 
   
   
       7 . The fastener for a socket connector according to  claim 4 , wherein one end of the frame has an abutting portion, the top surface of the cover abuts on the abutting portion. 
   
   
       8 . The fastener for a socket connector according to  claim 1 , wherein one end of the cover is pivotally connected to one end of the frame, the buckling piece is pivotally connected to the other end of the frame. 
   
   
       9 . The fastener for a socket connector according to  claim 8 , wherein the buckling piece has a pivoting rod and a rocking rod, the pivoting rod has a pressing portion, the frame has a locking portion, the pivoting rod is pivotally connected to the other end of the frame and the pressing portion exerts a force on the cover when the rocking rod is locked on the locking portion. 
   
   
       10 . The fastener for a socket connector according to  claim 8 , wherein the cover has a stopper, the frame has an abutting portion, and the stopper interacts with the abutting portion to limit the movement of the cover. 
   
   
       11 . The fastener for a socket connector according to  claim 8 , wherein one end of the cover has a pair of hooks, one end of the frame has a pair of hooking plates having openings therein, the pair of hooks being inserted into the openings in the hooking plates. 
   
   
       12 . The fastener for a socket connector according to  claim 1 , wherein the frame is disposed on a circuit board and the opening accommodates a socket connector electrically connected to the circuit board. 
   
   
       13 . A frame for use with a socket connector, the frame including a pair of side portions and a pair of end portions, the pair of side portions opposed to each other and the pair of end portions opposed to each other, and the end portion being adjacent to the side portions and being interconnected to form an opening, and a plurality of protrusions extending into the opening from at least one side wall. 
   
   
       14 . A frame according to  claim 13 , wherein at least one protrusion extends from an end wall. 
   
   
       15 . A frame for use with a socket connector, the frame including a pair of side portions and a pair of end portions, the pair of side portions opposed to each other and the pair of end portions opposed to each other, and the end portion being adjacent to the side portions and being interconnected to form an opening, and a plurality of protrusions extending into the opening, wherein at least one protrusion extends from each side portion. 
   
   
       16 . A frame according to  claim 15 , wherein at least one protrusion extends from an end wall.
