Information layout

Abstract

An operating platform- and device-neutral user interface is provided. Through the use of the disclosed user interface, device-particular nuances with regard to the rendering of information are overcome thereby allowing for greater pervasiveness of mobile device usage and reduction in development and management costs through the improvement and consistency of functionality and rendering of information.

1 . A system for configuring the layout of information in a display environment, comprising:
 a rules engine comprising a plurality of defined constraints for the display of information in the display environment; and   a logic engine configured to query the rules engine to determine if an input request may be processed subject to the defined constraints of the display environment.   
     
     
         2 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the logic engine is further configured to modify the input request subject to the defined constraints of the display environment. 
     
     
         3 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the logic engine is further configured to query memory comprising defined constraints for the display of information in the display environment. 
     
     
         4 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the defined constraints comprise pixel limitations of the display environment. 
     
     
         5 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the defined constraints comprise color limitations of the display environment. 
     
     
         6 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the defined constraints comprise file format processing limitations. 
     
     
         7 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the defined constraints comprise program language processing limitations. 
     
     
         8 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the defined constraints are defined by an original equipment manufacturer. 
     
     
         9 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the defined constraints may be adjusted by a user of the system. 
     
     
         10 . The system of  claim 1 , wherein the defined constraints are updatable. 
     
     
         11 . The system of  claim 10 , wherein the defined constraints are updated via an intelligent determination. 
     
     
         12 . The system of  claim 10 , wherein the defined constraints are updated via a synchronization operation. 
     
     
         13 . The system of  claim 10 , wherein the defined constraints are updated manually by a user of the system.
