Abstract
A delivery device for a chemical additive is provided for an oil filter. A carrier supporting a chemical additive is arranged within a central opening of a pleated filter media. The carrier interlocks with a center tube, also arranged within the central opening, that supports that filter media. The carrier includes fingers that axially and radially locate the carrier to prevent movement of the carrier within the filter.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A device for delivering a chemical additive comprising:
a center tube having openings; and a carrier arranged within the center tube, the carrier including a finger interlocking with a feature on the center tube.
2 . The device according to claim 1 , wherein the finger extends generally axially, the finger urged radially outward to engage the feature.
3 . The device according to claim 1 , wherein the carrier includes circumferential walls spaced from one another, and axial walls spaced from one another and joining the circumferential walls.
4 . The device according to claim 3 , wherein the axial walls support a floor that supports a chemical additive.
5 . The device according to claim 4 , wherein the finger is supported by one of the axial walls, the finger extending to an end in a direction toward the floor, the end engaging the feature.
6 . The device according to claim 4 , wherein a rib is supported by one of the axial walls, the rib protruding beyond the circumferential wall, adjacent to the center tube.
7 . A device for delivering a chemical additive comprising:
a carrier having circumferential walls spaced from one another and joined together by axial walls spaced from one another, the axial walls supporting a floor and a finger extending outwardly and away from the circumferential wall.
8 . The device according to claim 7 , wherein the carrier is generally cylindrical in shape and includes an intermediate portion with the floor arranged on one side of the intermediate portion.
9 . The device according to claim 7 , wherein the finger includes an end, the end arranged near the floor and spaced from one of the circumferential walls.
10 . The device according to claim 7 , wherein a rib extends radially outward from one of the axial walls beyond the circumferential walls.
11 . The device according to claim 7 , wherein the floor supports a chemical additive arranged interiorly to the circumferential walls.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
