Abstract

The invention relates to a metallic-colored thermoplastic molding material, which contains metal glitter in various admixtures. In addition, the invention relates to a method to manufacture this molding material and its use in molded bodies with openings. No visible formation of flow lines occurs with the use of this molding material, so that the quality of the goods manufactured is improved. For this purpose, it is planned that the percentage by weight of the metal glitter in the thermoplastic molding material lies between six and 15%, wherein the size of the glitter is not in a Gaussian distribution, but the molding material to a large extent contains only equally sized glitter particles in glitter mixtures.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A method for manufacturing a metallic-colored thermoplastic molded body of molding material, said method comprises incorporating metal glitter into the molding material, and then extruding the thermoplastic molding material using a screw extruder at an admixing point, which admixing point lies at a ratio of screw length to screw diameter of greater than 5 and less than 60.

2 . The molded body produced according to the method of claim 1 , said molded body being formed with at least one opening, and said molded body being free of flow lines.

3 . The method of claim 1 , wherein the screw length to screw diameter ratio is between 20 and 50.

4 . The method of claim 1 , said molding material comprises metal glitter in various admixtures, said glitter comprises a square or rectangular shape and having an edge-length distribution of 0.05 to 1 mm, and a characterized in that the percentage by weight of metal glitter in the molding material is greater than 5% and less than or equal to 15% and further characterized in that the edge-length distribution of the metal glitter is not a Gaussian distribution characterized in that the edge length distribution is multi-modal.

5 . The method of claim 4 , said molding material comprises a polyamide as a base material.

6 . The method of claim 4 , said molding material further comprises reinforcing materials comprising fibers and/or fillers.

7 . The molded body produced by the method claim 1 , said molded body comprises a metallic-colored thermoplastic molding material comprising metal glitter, said metal glitter comprises a square or rectangular shape, with an edge-length distribution of 0.05 to 1 mm, and characterized in that the percentage by weight of metal glitter in the thermoplastic molding material is greater than 5% and less than or equal to 15%, and wherein the molded body has no visible flow lines.

8 . The molded body of claim 7 , said molded body comprises forming an orifice and said portion has no visible flow lines.

9 . The method of claim 1 , said thermoplastic molding material comprises metal glitter configured in a square or rectangular shape with an edge-length distribution of 0.05 to 1 mm, characterized in that the percentage by weight of metal glitter in the thermoplastic molding material is greater than 5% and less than or equal to 15%, and wherein the molded body has no visible flow lines.

10 . The method of claim 9 , said method comprises molding a portion forming an orifice, said orifice portion has no visible flow lines.
