Abstract

A method of controlling data transfer, a method of controlling content transfer, a method of obtaining content processing information, and a system for transferring content are provided. The method of controlling data transfer in a data interoperable environment includes: receiving a request for transmitting data from a client; gathering information on entities which are to participate in transmitting data; forming a chain including at least two entities by using the gathered information on the entities; transmitting a plurality of data through the chain; and receiving an event message for representing a transmission status of the data transmitted from at least one of the entities included in the chain. Accordingly, it is possible to control a transmission of the data so that the plurality of data can be transmitted through a single session and to receive the transmission status of the data as an event message.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 .- 23 . (canceled)

       24 . A computer-implemented method comprising:
receiving a request to transmit data; gathering information pertaining to entities that, according to the request, are to participate in transmitting the data; forming a chain including at least two of the entities based on the gathered information; transmitting at least one content or at least one license using the formed chain; and receiving an event message describing a status of the transmission from at least one of the entities included in the chain.

25 . The method of claim 24 , wherein the request further comprises:
a transmission session identifier; and a data identifier associated with the data.

26 . The method of claim 24 , wherein gathering the information pertaining to the entities further comprises:
querying the entities for capability information; receiving the capability information; and accessing data describing a capability of sources, intermediate and destination devices, and digital rights management (DRM) system, using the received capability information.

27 . The method of claim 24 , further comprising determining using the gathered information whether to transmit the data based on the request.

28 . The method of claim 24 , wherein the at least two entities forming the chain comprise:
an exporter configured to: export the data from a source, and transmit the exported data; a transformer configured to: transform the transmitted, exported data into a data format supported by a destination, and transmit the transformed data; and an importer configured to: receive the transmitted, transformed data, and provide the received data to the destination.

29 . The method of claim 24 , wherein the at least two entities forming the chain comprise:
an exporter configured to: export the data from a source, and transmit the exported data; and an importer configured to: receive the transmitted data, and provide the data to a destination.

30 . The method of claim 24 , further comprising transmitting an event message to a client according to the received event message, the event message describing a status of the transmitting.

       31 . A device comprising:
 an interface configured to:
receive a request to transmit data,
transmit at least one content or at least one license using a formed chain, and
receive an event message describing a status of the transmission from at least one entity included in the chain; and
   a processor configured to:
gather information pertaining to entities that, according to the request, are to participate in transmitting the data, and
form the chain including at least two of the entities based on the gathered information.

32 . The device of claim 31 , wherein the request further comprises:
a transmission session identifier; and a data identifier associated with the data.

33 . The device of claim 31 , wherein gathering the information pertaining to the entities further comprises:
querying the entities for capability information; receiving the capability information; and accessing data describing a capability of sources, intermediate and destination devices, and digital rights management (DRM) system, using the received capability information.

34 . The device of claim 31 , wherein the processor is further configured to determine using the gathered information whether to transmit the data based on the request.

35 . The device of claim 31 , wherein the at least two entities forming the chain comprise:
an exporter configured to: export the data from a source, and transmit the exported data; a transformer configured to: transform the transmitted, exported data into a data format supported by a destination, and transmit the transformed data; and an importer configured to: receive the transmitted, transformed data, and provide the received data to the destination.

36 . The device of claim 31 , wherein the at least two entities forming the chain comprise:
an exporter configured to: export the data from a source, and transmit the exported data; and an importer configured to: receive the transmitted data, and provide the data to a destination.

37 . The device of claim 31 , wherein the interface is further configured to transmit an event message to a client according to the received event message, the event message describing a status of the transmitting.

       38 . A system comprising:
one or more computers; and a computer-readable medium coupled to the one or more computers having instructions stored thereon which, when executed by the one or more computers, causes the one or more computers to perform operations comprising:
receiving a request to transmit data,
gathering information pertaining to entities that, according to the request, are to participate in transmitting the data,
forming a chain including at least two of the entities based on the gathered information,
transmitting at least one content or at least one license using the formed chain, and
receiving an event message describing a status of the transmission from at least one of the entities included in the chain.

39 . The system of claim 38 , wherein the request further comprises:
a transmission session identifier; and a data identifier associated with the data.

40 . The system of claim 38 , wherein gathering the information pertaining to the entities further comprises:
querying the entities for capability information; receiving the capability information; and accessing data describing a capability of sources, intermediate and destination devices, and digital rights management (DRM) system, using the received capability information.

41 . The system of claim 38 , wherein the operations further comprise determining using the gathered information whether to transmit the data based on the request.

42 . The system of claim 38 , wherein the at least two entities forming the chain comprise:
an exporter configured to: export the data from a source, and transmit the exported data; a transformer configured to: transform the transmitted, exported data into a data format supported by a destination, and transmit the transformed data; and an importer configured to: receive the transmitted, transformed data, and provide the received data to the destination.
