Abstract
A roofing and/or siding material having a resulting reflectivity of at least about 50%. The roofing and/or siding material includes a base sheet/membrane, a reinforcement material and a multi-layer reflective film material.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A roofing and/or siding material having a resulting reflectivity of at least about 50%, said roofing and/or siding material comprising a base sheet/membrane, a reinforcement material and a multi-layer reflective film material, said reinforcement material at least partially embedded in said multi-layer reflective film material prior to said a reinforcement material and a multi-layer reflective film material being secured to said base sheet/membrane.
. The roofing and/or siding material as defined in claim 1 , wherein said multi-layer reflective film material includes at least two layers, a first layer comprises a majority weight percent polyvinylidene fluoride and a second layer comprises a mixture of polyvinylidene fluoride and vinyl polymer.
. The roofing and/or siding material as defined in claim 2 , wherein said multi-layer reflective film material includes at least three layers, a first layer comprises a majority weight percent polyvinylidene fluoride, a second layer comprises a mixture of polyvinylidene fluoride and vinyl polymer, and a third layer comprises a mixture of polyvinylidene fluoride and vinyl polymer, said second layer including a majority weight percent polyvinylidene fluoride, said third layer including a majority weight percent vinyl polymer.
. The roofing and/or siding material as defined in claim 2 , wherein said vinyl polymer includes a majority weight percent poly(methyl methacrylate).
. The roofing and/or siding material as defined in claim 3 , wherein said vinyl polymer includes a majority weight percent poly(methyl methacrylate).
. The roofing and/or siding material as defined in claim 1 , wherein said reinforcement material is a polyester material.
. The roofing and/or siding material as defined in claim 1 , wherein said base sheet/membrane is a bitumen membrane or a modified bitumen membrane.
. The roofing and/or siding material as defined in claim 1 , wherein a bottom surface of said base sheet/membrane includes a removable film sheet.
. A highly reflective composite material designed be applied to base sheet/membrane of a roofing and/or siding material, said highly reflective composite material comprising a reinforcement material and a multi-layer reflective film material, said reinforcement material at least partially embedded in a bottom surface of said multi-layer reflective film material, said top surface of said multi-layer reflective film material having a resulting reflectivity of at least about 70%, said multi-layer reflective film material including at least two layers, a first layer comprises a majority weight percent polyvinylidene fluoride and a second layer comprises a mixture of polyvinylidene fluoride and vinyl polymer.
. The highly reflective composite material as defined in claim 9 , wherein said multi-layer reflective film material includes at least three layers, a first layer comprises a majority weight percent polyvinylidene fluoride, a second layer comprises a mixture of polyvinylidene fluoride and vinyl polymer, and a third layer comprises a mixture of polyvinylidene fluoride and vinyl polymer, said second layer including a majority weight percent polyvinylidene fluoride, said third layer including a majority weight percent vinyl polymer.
. The highly reflective composite material as defined in claim 9 , wherein said vinyl polymer includes a majority weight percent poly(methyl methacrylate).
. The highly reflective composite material as defined in claim 10 , wherein said vinyl polymer includes a majority weight percent poly(methyl methacrylate).
. The highly reflective composite material as defined in claim 9 , wherein said reinforcement material is a polyester material.
. The highly reflective composite material as defined in claim 12 , wherein said reinforcement material is a polyester material.
. The highly reflective composite material as defined in claim 9 , wherein at least one of said layers of said multi-layer reflective film material includes a white pigment, white dye, or combinations thereof.
. The highly reflective composite material as defined in claim 14 , wherein at least one of said layers of said multi-layer reflective film material includes a white pigment, white dye, or combinations thereof.
. A process for forming a roofing and/or siding material having a resulting reflectivity of at least about 50% comprising the steps of:
a. providing a base sheet/membrane; b. providing a highly reflective composite material, said highly reflective composite material including a reinforcement material and a multi-layer reflective film material; and, c. securing said reinforcement material, said bottom surface of said multi-layer reflective film material, or combinations thereof to a top surface of said base sheet/membrane.
. The process as defined in claim 17 , wherein said reinforcement material at least partially embedded in a bottom surface of said multi-layer reflective film material.
. The process as defined in claim 17 , wherein said multi-layer reflective film material includes at least two layers, a first layer comprises a majority weight percent polyvinylidene fluoride and a second layer comprises a mixture of polyvinylidene fluoride and vinyl polymer.
. The process as defined in claim 19 , wherein said vinyl polymer includes a majority weight percent poly(methyl methacrylate).
. The process as defined in claim 17 , wherein said reinforcement material is a polyester material.
. The process as defined in claim 17 , wherein said base sheet/membrane is a bitumen membrane or a modified bitumen membrane.
. The process as defined in claim 19 , including the step of applying a removable film sheet to a bottom surface of said base sheet/membrane.Cited by (0)
