Abstract
Three dimensional flashings suitable for association with buildings where at least part of the flashing is a shape retaining three dimensional form to render its association with an underlying three dimensional substrate of the building easier even should it not initially match the conformation thereof. Such a flashing in such three dimensional region is adhesively associable with the substrate and includes for shape retention purposes below a suitable flexible weather resistant layer (e.g.; EDPM) an underlying conformable three dimensionally conformed material such as aluminium sheeting (optionally in a mesh form).
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 - 37 . (canceled)
38 . A flashing having
(i) a first region adapted in use to underlie cladding or a building and/or attach to cladding of a building and/or to flash part of a building, and (ii) a second region adapted to overlie part of a building to expose a weathering surface of the flashing, the weathering surface of the second region being defined by a flexible material that extends through to form at least part of the first region, wherein the second region under its weathering surface defining flexible material has both a shape retaining three dimensionally conformed material and a tack retaining adhesive, and wherein each of said first and second regions has opposed distal extremities and that distal extremity of the second region is longer in extent than that of the first region yet is not deployed to such an extent by virtue of at least part of the second region being three dimensionally configured by fluting or other gathering.
39 . The flashing of claim 38 where there is an articulation zone between said first region and said second region.
40 . The flashing of claim 38 wherein said three dimensionally conformed material is a metal.
41 . The flashing of claim 40 wherein said three dimensionally conformed material is a perforate or expanded sheet of a suitable metal.
42 . The flashing of claim 41 wherein said metal is sheet aluminum.
43 . The flashing of claim 42 wherein said second region is configured so as to exhibit a substantially sinusoidal section when being viewed in section towards said distal extremity of the second region.
44 . The flashing of claim 43 wherein a suitable natural or synthetic rubber material or plastics material provides said exterior flexible weathering surface.
45 . The flashing of claim 44 wherein a release sheet is associated with said tack retaining adhesive.
46 . The flashing of claim 45 wherein said three dimensionally conformed material is mould embedded at least in part in another material, said another material being flexible but not necessarily said flexible material providing the exterior weathering surface.
47 . The flashing of claim 41 wherein the tack retaining adhesive shows through the perforate or expanded metal thereby being available for association with part of a building to be flashed and linking to said flexible material.
48 . A flashing having
(i) a region (“first region”) adapted in use to underlie part of a building and/or attach to cladding of a building and/or to flash part of a building, and (ii) a weathering region adapted to overlie part of a building to expose a weathering surface of the flashing, the weathering region having an outer longer edge and an inner shorter edge, there being a differential in length between the inner shorter edge and the outer longer edge of the flashing, the weathering surface of the weathering region being defined by a flexible material that also extends from the shorter side of the flashing) through to the first region, wherein the weathering region under its flexible material has either
i) a shape retaining three dimensionally conformed material, or
ii) a tack retaining adhesive,
and wherein the weathering region is three dimensionally configured due to said edge differential, by fluting or other gathering whereby the flexible material from the shorter inside edge fans to a greater expanse of the flexible material, at the longer outside edge, than is suggested by its projected area prior to any reconformation thereof, and wherein the weathering region can, if desired, be conformed from its as supplied three dimensionally configured form to a more optimal form in preparation for and/or as it is being associated as a flashing region to part of a building to be flashed thereby.
49 . The flashing of claim 48 wherein there is an articulation zone between said first region and said weathering region.
50 . The flashing of claim 49 wherein said flexible material also extends from the shorter side edge through the articulation zone to the first region.
51 . The flashing of claim 50 wherein there is both
i) a shape retaining three dimensionally conformed material, and ii) a tack retaining adhesive.Cited by (0)
