Abstract

A gardening tool with a retaining assembly comprises a first rod pivotally installed to a second rod; the first rod having a track for assembling a retaining portion; the first rod further having an elastic unit at a side having the track; the second rod being rotatably installed to the first rod; one end of the second rod being formed with a recess; and the retaining portion being movable in the track; the elastic unit resisting against the retaining portion so as to be buckled to the recess and thus an orientation of the second rod is fixed.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A gardening tool with a retaining assembly comprising:
a fixed cutting portion having a first cutting surface; a movable cutting portion pivoted with the fixed cutting portion, the movable cutting portion having a second cutting surface corresponding to the first cutting surface; a first rod pivoted with the fixed cutting portion and movably connected to the movable cutting portion, the first rod having a track defined therein; a second rod pivoted with the first rod; the second rod having a recess defined in one end thereof; a retaining portion movably received in the track and selectively engaged with the recess; and an elastic unit formed in the first rod and aside the track to bias against the retaining portion.

2 . The gardening tool with a retaining assembly as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the retaining portion includes a buckle passing through the track and a push unit, the buckle having a resisting head for selectively engaged with the recess, the push unit having a trench for partially receiving the resisting head of the buckle.

3 . The gardening tool with a retaining assembly as claimed in claim 1 further comprising a handle connected to the fixed cutting portion and a rope connected to the second rod and the fixed cutting portion.

4 . The gardening tool with a retaining assembly as claimed in claim 1 , wherein the elastic unit is a twisting spring.

5 . The gardening tool with a retaining assembly as claimed in claim 1 further comprising an elastic body installed between the first rod and the fixed cutting portion.
