Abstract
Methods of preparing polyurethane and polyisocyanurate foams comprising the step of reacting and foaming a mixture of ingredients which react to form the polyurethane or polyisocyanurate foams in the presence of a blowing agent, wherein said blowing agent comprises an azeotrope-like composition consists essentially of 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane and n-pentane, as well as foams and foamable compositions comprising the azeotrope-like composition.

A method of preparing polyurethane and polyisocyanurate foams comprising the step of reacting and foaming a mixture of ingredients which react to form the polyurethane or polyisocyanurate foams in the presence of a blowing agent, wherein said blowing agent comprises an azeotrope-like composition consists essentially of from about 95 to about 30 weight percent 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane and from about 5 to about 70 weight percent n-pentane.
2 . The method of claim 1 wherein said azeotrope-like composition consists essentially of from about 95 to about 65 weight percent 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane and from about 5 to about 35 weight percent n-pentane.

A foam comprising a polymer selected from polyurethane and polyisocyanurate and an azeotrope-like composition, wherein said azeotrope-like composition consists essentially of from about 95 to about 30 weight percent 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane and from about 5 to about 70 weight percent n-pentane.
4 . The foam of claim 3 wherein said azeotrope-like composition consists essentially of from about 95 to about 65 weight percent 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane and from about 5 to about 35 weight percent n-pentane.
5 . The foam of claim 3 wherein said polymer is a polyisocyanurate.
6 . The foam of claim 3 wherein said polymer is polyurethane and said foam is a rigid, closed-cell foam.
7 . The foam of claim 3 wherein said polymer is polyurethane and said foam is a flexible, open-cell foam.
8 . A foamable composition comprising a polyol or mixture of polyols, an isocyanate, and a blowing agent comprising an azeotrope-like composition consists essentially of from about 95 to about 30 weight percent 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane and from about 5 to about 70 weight percent n-pentane.
9 . The foamable composition of claim 8 wherein said azeotrope-like composition consists essentially of from about 95 to about 65 weight percent 1,1,1,3,3-pentafluoropropane and from about 5 to about 35 weight percent n-pentane.
