Abstract

A recording apparatus is for a DVD on which a TS-VOB, and pieces of playback path information each showing a playback path of the TS-VOB are recorded. When extended control with various contents can be executed by an apparatus at the time of playback, an extended attribute section in which extended control is valid is specified in accordance with the contents of the extended control. When an extended attribute section is to be uniformly specified for playback paths of the TS-VOB, a section marker for specifying a location of the extended attribute section of the TS-VOB is generated in VOB information. When an extended attribute section is to be individually specified for one playback path, a section marker specifying a location of the extended attribute section of the playback path is generated in PGC information. The generated VOB information and PGC information are written to the DVD.

       28 . A recording apparatus comprising:
 an acquiring unit operable to acquire a digital stream, an access map which manages the digital stream, and a piece of playback path information which shows a playback path of the digital stream;   a specifying unit operable to specify first-type marker information to the playback path information, and specify second-type marker information to the access map; and   a writing unit operable to write, to a recording medium, the digital stream, the playback path information specified by the first-type marker information, and the access map specified by the second-type marker information, wherein
 the first-type marker information and the second-type marker information indicate a position where extended control is to be executed by a reproduction apparatus, 
 the extended control is playback control of the digital stream, the playback control of the digital stream is defined by a maker of the recording apparatus, and the playback path information refers to the access map, and 
 when a plurality of pieces of playback path information refer to the access map specified by the second-type marker information, the second-type marker information further indicates that the extended control is to be executed in first positions by the reproduction apparatus, each of the first positions being a position on each of a plurality of play back paths indicated by the plurality of pieces of the playback path information, and corresponding to the position specified by the second-type marker information. 
   
   
   
       29 . The recording apparatus of  claim 28 , wherein when the second-type marker information is valid for a plurality of makers, the plurality of makers execute the extended control which is common to the plurality of makers, in the position indicated by the second-type information. 
   
   
       30 . A recording method comprising:
 acquiring a digital stream, an access map which manages the digital stream, and a piece of playback path information which shows a playback path of the digital stream;   specifying first-type marker information to the playback path information, and a second-type marker information to the access map; and   writing, to a recording medium, the digital stream, the playback path information specified by the first-type marker information, and the access map specified by the second-type marker information, wherein
 the first type marker information and the second-type marker information indicate a position where extended control is to be executed by a reproduction apparatus, 
 the extended control is playback control of the digital stream, the playback control of the digital stream is defined by a maker of a recording apparatus, and the playback path information refers to the access map, and 
 when a plurality of pieces of playback path information refer to the access map specified by the second-type marker information, the second-type marker information further indicates that the extended control is to be executed in the first positions by the reproduction apparatus, each of the first positions being a position on each of a plurality of play back paths indicated by the plurality of pieces of the playback path information, and corresponding to the position specified by the second-type marker information. 
   
   
   
       31 . A recording medium used with a computer, comprising:
 a digital stream;   an access map which manages the digital stream; and   a piece of playback path information which shows a playback path of the digital stream, wherein
 the piece of playback path information is specified first-type marker information, 
 the access map is specified second-type marker information, the first-type marker information and the second-type marker information indicate a position where extended control is to be executed by a reproducing apparatus, 
 the extended control is playback control of the digital stream, the playback control of the digital stream being defined by a maker of a recording apparatus, 
 the playback path information refers to the access map, and 
 when a plurality of pieces of playback path information refer to the access map specified by the second-type marker information, the second-type marker information further indicates that the extended control is to be executed in first positions by the reproduction apparatus, each of the first positions being a position on each of a plurality of play back paths indicated by the plurality of pieces of the playback path information, and corresponding to the position specified by the second-type marker information. 
   
   
   
       32 . A reproduction apparatus comprising:
 an acquiring unit operable to acquire, from a recording medium, a digital stream, an access map which manages the digital stream, and a piece of playback path information which shows a playback path of the digital stream; and   a playing unit operable to play the digital stream with extended control in a position indicated by first-type marker information specified to the piece of playback path information, and to play the digital stream with extended control in a position indicated by second-type marker information specified to the access map, wherein
 the extended control is playback control of the digital stream, the playback control of the digital stream is defined by a maker of a recording apparatus, and the playback path information refers to the access map, and 
 when a plurality of pieces of playback path information refer to the access map specified by the second-type marker information, the reproduction apparatus plays the digital stream with the extended control in first positions, each of the first positions being a position on each of a plurality of play back paths indicated by the plurality of pieces of the playback path information, and corresponding to the position specified by the second-type marker information. 
   
   
   
       33 . A reproduction method comprising:
 acquiring, from a recording medium, a digital stream, an access map which manages the digital stream, and a piece of playback path information which shows a playback path of the digital stream; and   playing the digital stream with extended control in a position indicated by first-type marker information specified to the piece of playback path information, and the digital stream with extended control in a position indicated by second-type marker information specified to the access map, wherein
 the extended control is playback control of the digital stream, the playback control of the digital stream is defined by a maker of a recording apparatus, and the playback path information refers to the access map, and 
 when a plurality of pieces of playback path information refer to the access map specified by the second-type marker information, the reproduction method plays the digital stream with the extended control in first positions, each of the first positions being a position on each of a plurality of play back paths indicated by the plurality of pieces of the playback path information, and corresponding to the position specified by the second-type marker information.
