Abstract

The invention discloses a novel wide spectrum aquaculture pharmaceutical, comprising a therapeutic, disinfective and/or anesthetize effective amount of a preparation comprising TTO in a stable water-in-oil emulsion of alkali or ammonium salts of organic fatty acid; said emulsion is also stable when converted into an oil-in-water emulsion, wherein the preparation is for the treatment of aquatic animals suffering from a disease selected from bacterial, parasitic, viral and mycotic diseases. The invention also discloses a method for treating diseases selected from bacterial, parasitic, viral and mycotic origin, in an aquatic animal suffering therefrom, which method comprises administering a therapeutic active amount of a preparation comprising TTO in a stable water-in-oil emulsion of alkali or ammonium salts of organic fatty acid; said emulsion is also stable when converted into an oil-in-water emulsion to said aquatic animal.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A therapeutic stable oil-in-water emulsion for use in (i) preventing or (ii) Curing diseases of aquatic creatures, for use in controlling a broad spectrum of aquatic pathogens in their aquatic environment; and for use in treating said aquatic creatures from both (a) internal and (h) topical diseases; said emulsion comprising an alkali or ammonium salts of organic fatty acid and tea tree oil (TTO); TTO concentration is between about 1 and about 800 ppm (effective therapeutic dosages, ETD);
wherein said emulsion is non-toxic for specific combinations of said aquatic creatures and said range of ETD; and, wherein said emulsion is stable and effective within fresh, brackish and salty waters.

2 . The emulsion according to claim 1 , characterized by non-toxicity to aquaculture and a broad spectrum of activity chosen from the group consisting of fungicidal, bacteriocidal, virucidal, protozoacidal or any combination thereof.

3 . An anti-viral emulsion according to claim 1 , especially adapted to cure viral diseases of infected aquaculture creatures.

4 . An emulsion effective against parasitic protozoa according to claim 1 , especially adapted to cure external, internal and/or gastro-internal protozoa infections in infected aquaculture creatures.

5 . The emulsion according to claim 1 , wherein the effective dosage of said TTO-based emulsion is nontoxic to algae; and wherein said effective dosage is about 1 ppm to about 500 ppm.

6 . The emulsion according to claim 1 , wherein said aquatic creatures are selected from a group consisting of aquatic vertebrates, especially edible and ornamental fish; aquatic invertebrates, especially crabs; shrimps; sponges, especially sea cucumber; oysters, snails, clams and jellyfish.

7 . A promoter for growth of aquatic creatures, wherein said promoter is an emulsion comprising an alkali or ammonium fatty acid salt and tea tree oil (TTO) provided at an ETD of between about 1 and about 800 ppm.

8 . An aquaculture tranquilizer and/or anesthetic pharmaceutical for aquatic creatures, comprising an effective dose of a preparation comprising TTO in a stable oil-in-water emulsion of an alkali or ammonium fatty acid salt; wherein the said preparation is for use in tranquilizing and/or anaesthetizing said aquatic creatures.

9 . The emulsion according to claim 8 , wherein said aquatic creatures are selected from a group consisting of aquatic vertebrates, especially edible and ornamental fish; aquatic invertebrates, especially crabs; shrimps; sponges, especially sea cucumber; oysters, snails clams and jellyfish.

10 . A multipurpose aquatic preparation of therapeutic, tranquilizer and anesthetic pharmaceutical activity, adapted for treating aquatic creatures, said preparation comprising an effective dosage of TTO in a stable oil-in-water emulsion of alkali or ammonium salts of organic fatty acid; wherein the said preparation is for use in administration at effective dosage (i) whilst cultivating, (ii) prior to or whilst handling; or (iii) transporting said aquatic creatures.

11 . The multipurpose aquatic preparation according to claim 10 , characterized by non-toxicity in aquaculture and a broad spectrum of activities, chosen from the group consisting of fungicidal, bacteriocidal, virucidal, protozoacidal or any combination thereof.

12 . The multipurpose aquatic preparation according to claim 10 , especially adapted to cure viral diseases of infected aquaculture creatures.

13 . The multipurpose aquatic preparation according to claim 10 , especially adapted to cure external, internal and/or gastro-internal protozoa infections in infected aquaculture creatures.

14 . The multipurpose aquatic preparation according to claim 10 , wherein the effective amount of preparation is non-toxic to algae.

15 . The multipurpose aquatic preparation according to claim 10 , wherein said aquatic creatures are selected from a group consisting of aquatic vertebrates, especially edible and ornamental fish; aquatic invertebrates, especially crabs; shrimps; sponges, especially sea cucumber; oysters, snails clams and jellyfish.

16 . The multipurpose aquatic preparation according to claim 10 , wherein said preparation is additionally for use in promoting growth and survival of aquatic creatures.
