Multimedia optical disc for storing audio data and sub-picture data in a plurality of channels as well as moving picture data and apparatus and method for reproducing the multimedia optical disc
Abstract
A multimedia optical disc is provided. The multimedia optical disc includes a data area and a management information area. The data area stores a plurality pieces of video data. The management information area stores a channel table in which a plurality of logical channel numbers are respectively related to a plurality of physical channel numbers for each piece of video data. A piece of moving picture data and a plurality pieces of sub-data are interleaved in each piece of video data. The sub-data is either of audio data and sub-picture data as still pictures. The logical channel numbers are shared by pieces of video data. The physical channel numbers are used to physically identify the plurality pieces of sub-data. With this construction, it is possible to manage sub-data even when the sub-data is dealt with by a plurality pieces of video data.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 - 26 . (canceled)
27 . A recording medium in which a data stream and management information are recorded, wherein
moving picture data and a plurality of pieces of audio data are interleaved in the data stream, the plurality of pieces of audio data being assigned with IDs respectively, and the management information includes: information indicating a reproduction order of one or more pieces of moving picture data; and table information that defines candidates for one among the plurality of pieces of audio data that is reproduced by a reproduction apparatus during a period in which the one or more pieces of moving picture data are reproduced.
28 . The recording medium of claim 27 , wherein
the table information shows correspondence between a plurality of logical numbers and the IDs of the plurality of pieces of audio data, wherein one of the plurality of logical numbers is stored in a register of the reproduction apparatus.
29 . A reproduction apparatus for reproducing the recording medium defined in claim 27 , the reproduction apparatus comprising:
a reproducing unit operable to reproduce the data stream; a register storing a logical number indicating a piece of audio data to be reproduced; and a control unit operable to reproduce the one or more pieces of moving picture data in accordance with the reproduction order indicated by the management information, wherein the control unit determines a piece of audio data to be reproduced in accordance with the table information.
30 . The reproduction apparatus of claim 29 , wherein
the control unit, upon receiving a request to change audio data to be reproduced during a reproduction of the one or more pieces of moving picture data, determines a piece of audio data to be reproduced, in accordance with the table information, and stores, into the register, a logical number in the table information that corresponds to the piece of audio data to be reproduced.
31 . A reproduction method for reproducing the recording medium defined in claim 27 , the reproduction method comprising the steps of:
reproducing the data stream; storing a logical number indicating a piece of audio data to be reproduced; reproducing the one or more pieces of moving picture data in accordance with the reproduction order indicated by the management information; and determining a piece of audio data to be reproduced in accordance with the table information.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
