Spring assist for launch from compressed gas gun
Abstract
The present invention is a specially curved discharge port and port within a bolt within the breech for a compressed gas powered gun for the firing of projectiles. The invented gun has many improvements over the prior art including the use of improved gas pressure routing allowing for operation at lower pressures with no decrease in firing rate, efficiency, trajectory, or range. The structure of the present invention provides for embodiments which include the use of specific maximum angles within the gas passage from a compressed gas storage chamber and a portion of the breech through which the gas is routed as it expands to launch a projectile from the gun.

19 . A compressed gas powered gun, comprising:
a body having a rearward portion and a forward portion, the body including a first bore adapted to receive a projectile; the first bore including a bolt having a gas passage therethrough moveable from a first rearward position to a second forward position within the first bore; the body including a hammer chamber substantially parallel with the first bore, the hammer chamber including:
a pneumatic gas cylinder adapted to receive a supply of compressed gas from a source of compressed gas;
a slider moveable within the hammer chamber from a first rearward position to a second forward position, the slider having at least a rearward portion received within the pneumatic gas cylinder, the slider connected to the bolt via a mechanical linkage, the slider having a hammer at its forward end, the slider configured to move between the first rearward position to the second forward position under the force of compressed gas selectively supplied to the pneumatic gas cylinder;
a valve including a valve stem positioned in the hammer chamber forward the hammer, the valve configured to be opened by contact of the hammer with the valve stem when the slider moves to a forward position; an electronic solenoid valve configured to selectively control the passage of compressed gas to the pneumatic gas cylinder; a trigger for actuating the electronic solenoid valve.
20 . The compressed gas powered gun of claim 19 , further comprising a grip housing a microprocessor.
21 . The compressed gas powered gun of claim 20 , wherein the microprocessor is adapted to control a firing mode of the compressed gas gun.
22 . The compressed gas powered gun of claim 20 , wherein the microprocessor is adapted to control the rate of fire of the compressed gas gun.
23 . The compressed gas powered gun of claim 20 , wherein the microprocessor is adapted to control firing mode of the compressed gas gun.Join the waitlist — get patent alerts
