Fluvastatin sodium crystal forms, processes for preparing them, compositions containing them and methods of using them

Abstract

Provided are crystalline forms of fluvastatin sodium and processes for their preparation.

1 . Fluvastatin sodium (Form LXVI) having an PXRD pattern with characteristic peaks at 3.6, 10.8, 17.8, 18.3 and 21.6±0.2 degrees two-theta 
     
     
         2 . The fluvastatin sodium of  claim 1 , further characterized by peaks at 7.2, 12.2, 14.4 and 25.5±0.2 degrees two-theta. 
     
     
         3 . The fluvastatin sodium of  claim 1 , further characterized by an XRD pattern as depicted in  FIG. 81 . 
     
     
         4 . A process for preparing crystalline fluvastatin of  claim 1  comprising heating a solution of fluvastatin sodium in water and cooling the solution to precipitate the crystalline form.
