Information Handling System Product Badge Orientation System and Method

Abstract

A product badge coupled to a product, such as an information handling system, has a manually-selectable orientation to allow the orientation of the product badge to change for adapting to changes in the orientation of the product. A product badge support rotationally couples the product badge to the product for user selection of a desired orientation of product information, such as a manufacturer logo or a product identification number. Manual activation to change product badge orientation includes pushing the product badge into the product badge support to engage opposing cams, pushing the product badge edge to rotate the product badge to an opposing side having product information of another orientation, and pushing the product badge to activate a retention mechanism for release and retention of a selected of plural clips.

       11 . The method of claim  8  wherein manually activating further comprises:
 pressing on the product badge to insert the product badge from the surface of the product into the product;   engaging a cam associated with the product badge and a cam associated with the product;   rotating the product badge by engagement of the cams;   disengaging the cams after a predetermined product badge rotation; and   returning the product badge to the surface of the product.   
   
   
       12 . The method of  claim 11  wherein returning the product badge to the surface further comprises biasing the product badge to the surface with a spring. 
   
   
       13 . The method of  claim 11  wherein rotating the product badge further comprises rotating the product badge by approximately ninety degrees. 
   
   
       14 . The method of  claim 11  wherein rotating the product badge further comprises rotating the product badge by approximately one hundred and eighty degrees. 
   
   
       15 . The method of claim  8  wherein manually activating further comprises:
 pressing on the front side of the product badge at an edge to generate a rotational force, the front side having the product information at the first orientation; and   rotating the product badge to expose the back side of the product badge, the back side having the product information at the second orientation.   
   
   
       16 . The method of claim  8  wherein manually activating further comprises:
 pressing on the product badge to activate release of a retention mechanism coupled to clips of the product badge;   rotating the product badge to the second orientation; and   pressing on the product badge to activate engagement of the retention mechanism to couple to clips of the product badge.   
   
   
       17 . A system for aligning the orientation of a product badge coupled to a surface of a product with an upright orientation of the product, the system comprising:
 a product badge having a product logo surface depicting a product logo having an upright orientation; and   a product badge support operable to fixedly couple to the product, the product badge support rotationally coupling with the product badge to display the product logo at the product surface, the product badge support further operable to accept manual activation that rotates the product badge to align the upright orientation with the upright position of the product.   
   
   
       18 . The system of  claim 17  wherein:
 the product badge further comprises a pushrod extending through the product badge support and having a cam; and   the product badge support further comprises a cam aligned to engage the pushrod cam to rotate the product badge as the pushrod is pushed through the product badge support.   
   
   
       19 . The system of  claim 17  wherein the product badge further comprises an opposing product logo surface having the product logo at the upright orientation and wherein the product badge support manual activation comprises rotating between the product logo surface and the opposing product logo surface. 
   
   
       20 . The system of  claim 17  wherein:
 the product badge further comprises plural clips, each clip associated with a product logo orientation;   the product badge support further comprises a retention mechanism operable to retain and release a clip; and   manual activation comprises pressing the product badge to release the retention mechanism, rotating the product badge to align a clip associated with a desired orientation with the retention mechanism, and pressing the aligned clip into the retention mechanism to retain the product badge in the product badge support.
