Abstract

A device for aiding medication compliance includes a cap for a medicine container. The cap has a multi-color light-emitting diode; for determining when said cap is opened; and a button, operatively connected to the circuitry, for triggering a signal to an external dispenser to request a refill of medication when pressed.

1 . A medication dispensing device comprising:
 a display constructed and adapted to trigger an alert when a dose of medication has been missed, said alert changing the color of the display; and   a button operatively connected to an external dispenser, said button triggering a refill of medication in the device when pressed.   
     
     
         2 . The device of  claim 1  further comprising:
 a sensor mechanism constructed and adapted to determine when the device has been opened;   
     
     
         3 . The device of  claim 2  wherein the device is a cap for a medicine container. 
     
     
         4 . The device of  claim 2  wherein pressing the button triggers a signal to a pharmacy to refill the medication in the device. 
     
     
         5 . The device as in  claim 1  wherein the display is in the form of a nightlight. 
     
     
         6 . A cap for a medicine container, the cap comprising:
 a multi-color light-emitting diode; and   circuitry for determining when said cap is opened; and   a button, operatively connected to said circuitry, for triggering a signal to an external dispenser to request a refill of medication when pressed.
