Abstract

The present invention is an improved safety nosing component including a base element with channel member and a light emission element. The safety nosing component is manufactured by extrusion, co-extrusion, triple-extrusion, injection molding, insert injection molding, two-shot molding or a combination thereof. The present invention allows safety nosing components to be installed on architectural structures while also providing additional functionality.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A safety nosing component, comprising:
a base element including a main member with an inside surface, an outside surface, a first edge, a second edge, a third edge and a fourth edge; a channel member formed by a first boundary, a second boundary and a third boundary extending from a proximate end to a distal end and positioned on said outside surface of said main member; and a light emission element including an upper face and a lower face along with a first wall, a second wall, a third wall, and a fourth wall, wherein said light emission element is positioned substantially within said channel member such that said lower face of said light emission element abuts said first boundary of said channel member.

2 . The safety nosing component of claim 1 , wherein said base element further comprises:
a support member including an interior surface, an exterior surface, a first border, a second border, a third border and a fourth border, wherein said second edge of said main member unites with said second border of said support member.

3 . The safety nosing component of claim 1 , further comprising:
a texture element, wherein said texture element is positioned on said base element.

4 . The safety nosing component of claim 3 wherein said texture element is tread.

5 . The safety nosing component of claim 3 wherein said texture element is a dock bumper.

6 . The safety nosing component of claim 3 wherein said texture element is an advertising constituent.

7 . The safety nosing component of claim 1 , further comprising:
an attachment member, wherein said attachment member is positioned on said base element.

8 . The safety nosing component of claim 1 , further comprising:
a substrate element including a top face and a bottom face along with a first side, a second side, a third side and a fourth side, wherein said substrate element is positioned substantially about said channel member such that it is located between said base element and said light emission element.

9 . The safety nosing component of claim 1 , wherein said light emission element is between and including ½ inches to about and including 2½ inches in width.

10 . The safety nosing component of claim 1 , wherein said base element and said light emission element are co-extruded.

11 . The safety nosing component of claim 8 , wherein said base element, said substrate element and said light emission element are triple-extruded.

12 . The safety nosing component of claim 1 , wherein said base element and said light emission element are individually injection molded and said base element and said light emission element are interconnected.

13 . The safety nosing component of claim 8 , wherein said light emission element and said substrate element are co-extruded and interconnected to said base element.

14 . The safety nosing component of claim 1 , wherein said light emission element is extruded and interconnected to said base element via insert molding.

15 . The safety nosing component of claim 1 , wherein said base element is extruded and interconnected to said light emission element via insert molding.

16 . The safety nosing component of claim 1 , wherein said base element and said light emission element are two-shot molded.

       17 . A stair nosing component, comprising:
a base element including a main member with an inside surface, an outside surface, a first edge, a second edge, a third edge and a fourth edge; a support member including an interior surface, an exterior surface, a first border, a second border, a third border and a fourth border, wherein said second edge of said main member unites with said second border of said support member; a channel member formed by a first boundary, a second boundary and a third boundary extending from a proximate end to a distal end and positioned on said outside surface of said main member; a substrate element including a top face and a bottom face, wherein said substrate element is positioned substantially within said channel member; and a light emission element including an upper face and a lower face, wherein said light emission element is positioned substantially within said channel member such that said lower face of said light emission element abuts said top face of said substrate element.

18 . The stair nosing component of claim 17 , further comprising:
a texture element, wherein said texture element is positioned on said base element.

19 . The stair nosing component of claim 18 , wherein said texture element is and advertising constituent.

       20 . A dock nosing component, comprising:
a base element including a main member with an inside surface, an outside surface, a first edge, a second edge, a third edge and a fourth edge; a support member including an interior surface, an exterior surface, a first border, a second border, a third border and a fourth border, wherein said second edge of said main member unites with said second border of said support member; a first channel member positioned on said outside surface of said main member; a second channel member positioned on said exterior surface of said support member; a first light emission element, wherein said first light emission element is positioned substantially within said first channel member; a second light emission element, wherein said second light emission element is positioned substantially within said first channel member; and a texture element positioned on said exterior surface of said support member, wherein said texture element is a dock bumper.
