Abstract
A dive belt is provided for use by divers during underwater activities, such as scuba diving. The belt comprises a body member and a weight release system which is quickly removal while the belt remains in place on the diver. A tow clip can be attached to the belt and may be used in conjunction with a surface air supply system for pulling the surface air supply system.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 . A dive belt, comprising:
a body member adapted for attachment around a body area of a diver; a pocket member attached to said body member; a weight member removably disposed within said pocket member prior to release of said weight member, said pocket member located on said body member for rapid removement of said weight member by the diver; and wherein said body member adapted to remain attached to the body area of the diver after said weight member is removed from said pocket member and released; wherein said pocket member remains attached to said body member after said weight member is released.
2 . The dive belt of claim 1 wherein said pocket member having an opening and said belt further comprising a flap member permanently secured at one end to said pocket member on one side of said opening and removably secured at a second end to said pocket member at an opposite side of said opening to substantially close off access to said opening and help prevent said weight member from inadvertently falling out of said pocket member.
3 . The dive belt of claim 2 wherein said flap member is removably secured to said pocket member through mating hook and loop fasteners.
4 . The dive belt of claim 1 further comprising a first member of a complimentary mating mechanism member secured to said body member, said first member used for towing an item while the body member is worn by the diver.
5 . The dive belt of claim 4 wherein said first member is disposed at a back area of said body member when said body member is properly worn by the diver.
6 . The dive belt of claim 1 further comprising a tow clip secured to said body member for towing an item.
7 . The dive belt of claim 4 wherein said first member is a female portion of a side release buckle.
8 . The dive belt of claim 1 , further including means for towing attached to said body member.
9 . A dive belt, comprising:
a body member adapted for attachment around a body area of a diver; a first pocket member attached to said body member; a first weight member removably disposed within said pocket member prior to release of said weight member, said first pocket member located on said body member for rapid removement of said first weight member by the diver; a second pocket member attached to said body member; a second weight member removably disposed within said second pocket member prior to release of said second weight member, said second pocket member located on said body member for rapid removement of said second weight member by the diver; wherein said body member adapted to remain attached to the body area of the diver after said first weight member is removed from said first pocket member and released; wherein said body member adapted to remain attached to the body area of the diver after said second weight member is removed from said second pocket member and released, wherein said first pocket member remains attached to said body member after said first weight member is released; wherein said second pocket member remains attached to said body member after said second weight member is released.
10 . The dive belt of claim 9 wherein said first pocket member having a first opening and said belt further comprising a first flap member permanently secured at one end to said first pocket member on one side of said first opening and removably secured at a second end to said first pocket member at an opposite side of said first opening to substantially close off access to said first opening and help prevent said first weight member from inadvertently falling out of said first pocket member; wherein said second pocket member having a second opening and said belt further comprising a second flap member permanently secured at one end to said second pocket member on one side of said second opening and removably secured at a second end to said second pocket member at an opposite side of said second opening to substantially close off access to said second opening and help prevent said second weight member from inadvertently falling out of said second pocket member.
11 . The dive belt of claim 10 wherein said first flap member is removably secured to said first pocket member through mating first hook and loop fasteners and said second flap member is removably secured to said second pocket member through mating second hook and loop fasteners.
12 . The dive belt of claim 9 further comprising a first member of a complimentary mating mechanism member secured to said body member, said first member used for towing an item while the body member is worn by the diver.
13 . The dive belt of claim 12 wherein said first member is disposed at a back area of said body member when said body member is properly worn by the diver.
14 . The dive belt of claim 9 further comprising a tow clip secured to said body member for towing an item.
15 . The dive belt of claim 12 wherein said first member is a female portion of a side release buckle.
16 . The dive belt of claim 9 , further including means for towing attached to said body member.
17 . A dive belt, comprising:
a body member adapted for attachment around a body area of a diver; a first pocket member attached to said body member and having a first opening; a first weight member removably disposed within said pocket member prior to release of said weight member, said first pocket member located on said body member for rapid removement of said first weight member by the diver; a second pocket member attached to said body member and having a second opening; a second weight member removably disposed within said second pocket member prior to release of said second weight member, said second pocket member located on said body member for rapid removement of said second weight member by the diver, a first flap member permanently secured at one end to said first pocket member on one side of said first opening and removably secured at a second end to said first pocket member at an opposite side of said first opening to substantially close off access to said first opening and help prevent said first weight member from inadvertently falling out of said first pocket member; a second flap member permanently secured at one end to said second pocket member on one side of said second opening and removably secured at a second end to said second pocket member at an opposite side of said second opening to substantially close off access to said second opening and help prevent said second weight member from inadvertently falling out of said second pocket member; wherein said body member adapted to remain attached to the body area of the diver after said first weight member is removed from said first pocket member and released; wherein said body member adapted to remain attached to the body area of the diver after said second weight member is removed from said second pocket member and released; wherein said first pocket member remains attached to said body member after said first weight member is released; wherein said second pocket member remains attached to said body member after said second weight member is released; wherein said first flap member is removably secured to said first pocket member through mating first hook and loop fasteners and said second flap member is removably secured to said second pocket member through mating second hook and loop fasteners.
18 . The dive belt of claim 17 further comprising a first member of a complimentary mating mechanism member secured to said body member, said first member used for towing an item while the body member is worn by the diver; wherein said first mating member is disposed at a back area of said body member when said body member is properly worn by the diver.
19 . The dive belt of claim 17 further comprising a tow clip secured to said body member for towing an item.
