Abstract
A container includes a base and a plurality of walls extending upward therefrom. At least one lid is pivotably connected to one of the walls. The lid includes at least one projection from an upper surface thereof, which contacts at least one rib on an exterior surface of the wall to prevent over-rotation of the lid. In another feature, the lid includes a projection from an interior surface, which pivots the lid to a position not parallel to a support surface when the container is inverted and placed on a support surface with the lid open.
Claims
exact text as granted — not AI-modified1 ) A container comprising:
a base; a plurality of walls extending upward from the base, the plurality of walls including a first wall, the first wall including at least one rib on an exterior surface; and a lid pivotably connected to the first wall, the lid including at least one projection projecting upwardly, the lid pivotable to an open position where the at least one projection contacts the at least one rib to prevent over-rotation of the lid.
2 ) The container of claim 1 wherein the at least one projection includes a first reinforced portion that is elongated generally parallel to an axis about which the lid is pivotably connected to the first wall.
3 ) The container of claim 2 wherein the lid is connected to the first wall by a hinge and wherein the at least one projection further includes a second reinforced portion.
4 ) The container of claim 3 wherein the second reinforced portion is between the first reinforced portion and the hinge.
5 ) The container of claim 4 wherein the second reinforced portion is elongated generally parallel to the axis.
6 ) The container of claim 5 wherein the at least one rib includes a first rib and a second rib and wherein the first reinforced portion contacts the first rib in the open position and the second reinforced portion contacts the second rib in the open position.
7 ) The container of claim 6 wherein the second reinforced portion does not contact the first rib in the open position.
8 ) The container of claim 7 wherein the first rib is lower on the first wall than the second rib.
9 ) A container comprising:
a base; a plurality of walls extending upward from the base, the plurality of walls including a first wall; and a lid connected to the first wall and pivotable relative to the first wall about an axis between an open position and a closed position, the lid including a at least one projection projecting from an interior surface of the lid proximate the axis, wherein the at least one projection pivots the lid to a drain position not parallel to a support surface when the container is placed inverted on the support surface.
10 ) The container of claim 9 wherein the lid is pivoted by the at least one projection to an angle approximately thirty degrees relative to the support surface when the container is placed inverted on the support surface.
11 ) The container of claim 9 wherein the at least one projection is positioned much closer to the axis than to an edge of the lid opposite the axis.
12 ) The container of claim 9 wherein the at least one projection is positioned at a distance from the axis less than approximately 1/10 th a distance from the hinge to an edge of the lid opposite the axis.
13 ) The container of claim 9 wherein the lid is a first lid, the container further including a second lid pivotably attached to a second wall of the plurality of walls, the second wall opposite the first wall, the second lid including at least one second projection extending from an interior surface of the second lid, wherein the at least one second projection pivots the second lid to a drain position not parallel to the support surface when the container is placed inverted on the support surface.
14 ) The container of claim 13 wherein the container rests on the first lid and the second lid on the support surface when the container is in the inverted position on the support surface.Cited by (0)
