Method of providing a multimedia service in a digital wireless communication network

Abstract

A method of providing a multimedia multicast service in a digital wireless communication network, the network having a network controller for controlling of at least one base station, comprising establishing a single data stream from the network controller to the base station for transmitting of multimedia data, by means of a single lub link or transport bearer and establishing a separate communication link and a separate data queue for each user equipment in a radio cell of the base station which requests the multimedia data.

         11 . A method of providing a multimedia point to multipoint transmission service in a digital wireless communication network, the network having a network controller for controlling of at least one base station, the method comprising:
 establishing no more than a single data stream of the multimedia point to point transmission service from the network controller to the base station for transmitting of the multimedia data,   establishing a single data queue for a plurality of user equipment in a radio cell of the base station which request the multimedia data,   transmitting of the multimedia data to the plurality of user equipment.   
     
     
         12 . A base station for providing a multimedia point to multipoint transmission service in a digital wireless communication network, the base station comprising:
 means for receiving of no more than a single data stream of the multimedia point to multipoint transmission service from a radio network controller of the digital wireless communication network,   means for establishing a single data queue for a plurality of user equipment in a radio cell of the base station which request the multimedia data,   means for broadcasting of the multimedia data to the plurality of user equipment.   
     
     
         13 . A radio network controller for a digital wireless communication network, the radio network controller comprising:
 means for establishing no more than a single data stream of the multimedia point to multipoint transmission service to a base station of the digital wireless communication network for transmitting of multimedia data,   means for controlling of the base station to establish a single data queue for a plurality of user equipment requesting the multimedia data in a point to multipoint transmission mode.
