Abstract

A device for promoting the clotting of blood comprises a clay material in particle form and a receptacle for containing the clay material. At least a portion of the receptacle is defined by a mesh. Another device comprises a gauze substrate and a clay material disposed on the gauze substrate. Another device is a bandage comprising a substrate, a mesh mounted on the substrate, and particles of a clay material retained in the mesh. A hemostatic sponge comprises a substrate, a hemostatic material disposed on a first surface of the substrate, and a release agent disposed on a second surface of the substrate. The release agent is disposed on the wound-contacting surface of the substrate. When treating a bleeding wound, application of the hemostatic sponge causes at least a portion of the hemostatic material to come into contact with blood through the release agent and through the substrate.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A hemostatic product comprising:
 hemostatic device comprising:
 a substrate; and
 a hemostatic agent disposed on or into said substrate;
wherein the substrate is folded into a pleated form; and a package containing the hemostatic device; wherein the hemostatic product is prepared by a process comprising applying a vacuum.

2 . The product of claim 1 , wherein the substrate comprises gauze.

3 . The product of claim 1 , wherein the hemostatic agent comprises at least one of: a bioactive glass, a biological hemostat, a molecular sieve, diatomaceous earth, a clay material, and chitosan.

4 . The product of claim 3 , wherein the hemostatic agent comprises a clay material.

5 . The product of claim 4 , wherein the clay material comprises at least one of attapulgite, bentonite, and kaolin.

6 . The product of claim 5 , wherein the clay material comprises kaolin.

7 . The product of claim 1 , further comprising a release agent disposed on the substrate.

         8 . A device comprising:
a substrate; a hemostatic agent disposed on the substrate; and a pharmaceutically active composition disposed on the substrate.

9 . The device of claim 8 , wherein the pharmaceutically active composition comprises an analgesic or an anti-inflammatory agent.

10 . The device of claim 9 , wherein the pharmaceutically active composition further comprises at least one of: an antibiotic, an antifungal agent, an anti-microbial agent, a silver ions, or copper ions.

11 . The device of claim 8 , wherein the pharmaceutically active agent comprises an analgesic.

12 . The device of claim 8 , wherein the pharmaceutically active agent comprises an anti-inflammatory agent.

13 . The device of claim 9 , wherein the hemostatic agent comprises a clay.

14 . The device of claim 13 , wherein the clay comprises kaolin.
