Abstract

A rechargeable battery. The rechargeable battery is constructed with a bare cell, a protective circuit board electrically connected to the bare cell, a lead plate located between the bare cell and the protective circuit board, and a combining case covering an upper end of the bare cell, the protective circuit board and the lead plate. The lead plate is constructed with a first plate electrically connected to the protective circuit board, a second plate electrically connected to the bare cell, and an inside bending part connected between the first plate and the second plate. The first plate of the lead plate is bent around the inside bending part at 180 degrees such that the bare cell is coupled with the protective circuit board in parallel. Therefore, a distance between the bare cell and the protective circuit is reduced, and the capacity per volume of the rechargeable battery is increased.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . A rechargeable battery, comprising:
a bare cell; a protective circuit board electrically connected to the bare cell; a lead plate disposed on the bare cell, comprising:
 a first plate electrically connected to the protective circuit board;
a second plate electrically connected to the bare cell; and
an inside bending part connected between the first plate and the second plate, with the first plate being bent around the inside bending part at 180 degrees such that the bare cell is coupled with the protective circuit board in parallel; and
a combining case covering an upper end of the bare cell, the protective circuit board and the lead plate.

2 . The rechargeable battery of claim 1 , comprised of an inner surface of the first plate of the lead plate electrically connected to the protective circuit board contacting an inner surface of the second plate of the lead plate electrically connected to the bare cell.

3 . The rechargeable battery of claim 1 , comprised of the lead plate being formed in a rectangular shape having an opening at one side of the rectangle.

4 . The rechargeable battery of claim 1 , comprised of the combining case comprising a plurality of attaching means for securely attaching the protective circuit board to the inside of the combining case.

5 . The rechargeable battery of claim 4 , comprised of the attaching means comprising:
a tapered part formed at a front end of the combining case that is close to the bare cell, for guiding the protective circuit board during an inserting of the protective circuit board into the combining case; and an attaching groove formed at a rear end of the combining case that is far from the bare cell compared to the tapered part, for receiving the protective circuit board and.

6 . The rechargeable battery of claim 5 , comprised of the protective circuit board comprising a plurality of attaching jaws at the position corresponding to the attaching groove, with the attaching jaws being inserted in and securely attached to the attaching groove.

7 . The rechargeable battery of claim 1 , further comprising at least one insulation filling member disposed between the bare cell and the protective circuit board for insulating the bare cell and the protective circuit board and preventing deformation of the bare cell and the protective circuit board.

8 . The rechargeable battery of claim 7 , comprised of the insulation filling member being placed on the cap plate of the bare cell.

9 . The rechargeable battery of claim 8 , comprised of the insulation filling member being made from an insulation tape.

10 . The rechargeable battery of claim 1 , further comprising a stopper mounted on the cap plate of the bare cell in order to prevent the protective circuit board from being pressurized by the combining case.

11 . The rechargeable battery of claim 10 , comprised of the stopper comprising a groove in the inside of the stopper, and the cap plate comprising a supporting member, with the supporting member being inserted and securely attached into the groove inside the stopper.

12 . The rechargeable battery of claim 10 , comprised of the combining case comprising a groove at the position that corresponds to the stopper, with the stopper being inserted and securely attached into the groove of the combining case.

13 . The rechargeable battery of claim 1 , comprised of the combining case comprising a sleeve surface at the lower part of the combining case, with the combining case being connected to the upper end of the bare cell in a sleeve method by using the sleeve surface.

14 . The rechargeable battery of claim 1 , further comprising a safety device whose one side is electrically connected to the bare cell and the other is electrically connected to the lead plate.

15 . The rechargeable battery of claim 14 , comprised of the safety device comprising a positive temperature coefficient (PTC) element.
