Abstract

In one embodiment or the present invention, a non-vinyl flooring is described comprising a flooring substrate having a non-vinyl composition comprising a terpolymer comprising ethylene, methyl acrylate and acrylic acid and a copolymer comprising ethylene and methacrylic acid. In one embodiment of the present invention, the non-vinyl flooring comprises a resilient non-vinyl floor tile comprising a non-vinyl composition comprising a terpolymer and a copolymer. In another embodiment of the present invention, the non-vinyl flooring comprises a resilient non-vinyl sheet flooring comprising a non-vinyl composition comprising a terpolymer and a copolymer. Methods for making the non-vinyl tile and non-vinyl sheet flooring are described.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 . (canceled)

       2 . A composition comprising:
a flooring substrate having a non-vinyl composition comprising a terpolymer comprising ethylene, methyl acrylate and acrylic acid and a copolymer to raise the modulus of the overall composition.

       3 . The composition of claim 2 , further comprising a pigment.

       4 . The composition of claim 2 , further comprising a mottle.

5 . The composition of claim 4 , wherein the mottle comprises a pigment.

6 . The composition of claim 4 , wherein the mottle comprises flakes having the same chemical components as the flooring substrate.

7 . The composition of claim 4 , wherein the mottle comprises trim.

8 . The composition of claim 2 , further comprising a mottle on a top surface of the flooring substrate.

9 . The composition of claim 2 , wherein the terpolymer comprises approximately 8 to 30% by weight of the flooring substrate.

10 . The composition of claim 2 , wherein the copolymer comprises approximately 0.1 to 16% by weight of the flooring substrate.

11 . The composition of claim 2 , further comprising a protective layer on a top surface of the flooring substrate.

12 . The composition of claim 2 , wherein the protective layer comprises urethane.

13 . The composition of claim 2 , wherein the flooring substrate comprises a sheet flooring.

14 . The composition of claim 13 , wherein the flooring substrate further comprises a backing substrate attached to the non-vinyl composition.

15 . The composition of claim 2 , wherein the flooring substrate comprises a floor tile.

16 . The composition of claim 15 , further comprising: a first mottle; and a second mottle below the first mottle on a top surface of the floor tile.

17 . The composition of claim 2 , further comprising limestone.

18 . The composition of claim 17 , wherein the terpolymer comprises approximately 8-30% by weight of the composition, the copolymer comprises approximately 0.1-16% by weight of the tile composition, and the limestone comprises over 50% by weight of the composition.
