Abstract

A method of diagnosing cancer by identifying differential modulation of each gene (relative to the expression of the same genes in a normal population) in a combination of genes selected from two groups of genes. Gene expression portfolios and kits for employing the method are further aspects of the invention.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
. An assay having a portfolio comprising isolated nucleic acid sequences, their complements, or portions thereof of a combination of genes selected from the group consisting of Seq. ID. No. 1-30, Seq. ID No. 32, Seq. ID No. 34 and Seq. ID No. 98.

. The assay portfolio of claim 1 in a matrix suitable for identifying the differential expression of the genes contained therein.

. The assay of claim 2 wherein said matrix is employed in a microarray.

. The assay of claim 3 wherein said microarray is a cDNA microarray.

. The assay of claim 3 wherein said microarray is an oligonucleotide microarray.

. An assay having a portfolio comprising isolated nucleic acid sequences, their complements, or portions thereof of a combination of genes selected from the group consisting of Seq. ID. No. 32-67, Seq. ID No. 69, and Seq. ID No. 98-100.

. The assay of claim 6 in a matrix suitable for identifying the differential expression of the genes contained therein.

. The assay of claim 7 wherein said matrix is employed in a microarray.

. The assay of claim 8 wherein said microarray is a cDNA microarray.

. The assay of claim 8 wherein said microarray is an oligonucleotide microarray.

. A kit for diagnosing cancer comprising reagents for the detection of the expression of a combination of genes selected from the group consisting of Seq. ID. No. 1-30, Seq. ID No. 32, Seq. ID No. 34 and Seq. ID No. 98.

. The kit of claim 11 further comprising reagents for conducting a microarray analysis.

. The kit of claim 11 further comprising a medium through which nucleic acid sequences within said genes, their compliments, or portions thereof are assayed.

. The kit of claim 13 wherein said medium is a microarray.

. The kit of claim 11 further comprising instructions.

. A kit for diagnosing cancer comprising reagents for the detection of the expression of genes selected from the group consisting of Seq. ID. No.32-67, Seq. ID No. 69, and Seq. ID No. 98-100.

. The kit of claim 16 further comprising reagents for conducting a microarray analysis.

. The kit of claim 16 further comprising a medium through which nucleic acid sequences within said genes, their compliments, or portions thereof are assayed.

. The kit of claim 18 wherein said medium is a microarray.

. The kit of claim 19 further comprising instructions.
