Abstract

Trimetallic nitride endohedral metallofullerene derivatives and their preparation are described. The trimetallic nitride endohedral metallofullerene derivatives have the general formula A 3-n X n @C m (R) where n ranges from 0 to 3, A and X may be trivalent metals and may be either rare earth metal or group IIIB metals, m is between about 60 and about 200, and R is preferably an organic group. Derivatives where the R group forms cyclized derivatives with the fullerene cage are also described.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
1 - 15 . (canceled)

16 . An endohedral metallofullerene cyclic derivative produced by the process of performing a cycloaddition of a molecule selected from among a conjugated diene, a benzyne, a ketene, an orthoquinodimethane, a ylide, a carbene, a malonate, a diazomethane, and a pyrrolidine to an endohedral metallofullerene of formula A 3-n X n N@C m ; wherein, A is a metal; X is a second metal; n is an integer from 0 to 3; and m is an even integer from about 68 to about 200.

17 . The endohedral metallofullerene cyclic derivative of claim 16 wherein m is 80.

18 . The endohedral metallofullerene cyclic derivative of claim 16 wherein X and A are the same or different, and X and A are selected from the group consisting of Scandium, Yttrium, Lanthanum, Gadolinium, Holmium, Erbium, Thulium, and Ytterbium.

19 . The endohedral metallofullerene cyclic derivative of claim 16 wherein either or both of X and A are selected from the group consisting of a rare earth element and a group IIIB element.
