Abstract

A polymer comprising an optionally substituted first repeat unit of formula (1): wherein F is a divalent residue; each G in each occurrence is independently a divalent residue; r is at least 1; each p is independently 0 or 1 and each corresponding q is the other of 0 or 1; and G comprises a heteroatom in the case where n is 1.

       34 . The optionally substituted compound of  claim 29 , wherein R is, independently on each occurrence, selected from the group consisting of H, C 1  to C 40  alkyl, alkoxy, aryl, aryloxy, heteroaryl, and heteroaryloxy. 
   
   
       35 . The optionally substituted compound of  claim 29 , wherein at least one G is CR 2  or SiR 2 , wherein said R groups are linked to form a ring.

The optionally substituted compound of  claim 29 , wherein P is, independently on each occurrence, a polymerizable group selected from the group consisting of boronic acid groups, boronic ester groups, borane groups, reactive halide groups, and groups of formula —O—SO 2 -Z, wherein Z is selected from the group consisting of optionally substituted alkyl and optionally substituted aryl.
